Also Dave and Tracy, Erin McKeown, Patty Larkin, Deb Talan, Gillian Welch, Jenn Adams, etc). In addition to the festival, there is a page with a few pictures from the house concerts Dave & Tracy did in Nederland (one of me and them). http://www.blackfoot.net/~jess913/dthouseconcerts.html http://www.blackfoot.net/~jess913/rmff2001.html Let me know what you think, if you look at em. :) Jess - -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jessica Byers jess913@blackfoot.net 23373 Highway 93 North ~~~ http://www.blackfoot.net/~jess913/ Arlee, MT 59821 ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Oct 2001 07:07:15 -0700 From: "Jodi" Subject: [lucy-list] Don Conoscenti House Concert "FOLKUS" HOUSE CONCERTS Presents DON CONOSCENTI With Special Guest Linda Steffen! And i really like quirky people. *S* The best dates are at weekend long folk festivals. Falcon Ridge is probably the ultimate. Shredded processed cheese food (made from 2% milk) is just something you have around when you have kids (mine are 9 and 13). I actually love swiss cheese, and WOULD take some to a concert to snack on. Has anyone else heard the wayfaring strangers "shifting sands of time " cd which came out last month? It's almost a mini Lucy album. 3 lead vocals and 1 harmony with Jennifer Kimball. Some really nice (quirky..*S*) arrangements of traditional songs here.... including a 6 minute version of wayfaring stranger. Iain and I arrived to see the two local rock bands who played well and obviously had their own fans present. It was shame that they and their fans did'nt give Sarah the same respect during her set as they got. I hate it when there are people talking throughout the acts. Anyway they did not detract from the fact Sarah and her excellent band could play their socks off. I bought her cd prior to her coming on stage and made sure I got it signed at the end of the gig. No nonsense stuff with where to sign. The booklet is the most obvious place for me so after a quick disasterous photo shoot (flash did not work) Sarah signed for me. As for the songs, well, she performed most of her great album excellently live. The full band working was great to hear (only wish Lucy would treat us to the same over here). Iain and I are now true converts and the 4 star review in the Evening News sure let folk realise that they missed a great show. What is all this about cheese anyway? Oh, yeah, it's because SharonG visited Wisconsin, right? I was afraid that we were gonna have to bring cheese to Lucy's shows now instead of baked goods (well, cheese-cake, if you must...). I climbed the ladder to clean gutters and raked leaves like a madman after work yesterday as I anticipated a big rain last night. (It came with lightning and thunder after 1:00 AM). When I finished after dark and came in, I was greeted to crusty baguette with french brie and a bottle of '98 Cote du Rhone sitting out on the table for me. Actually a lot of the "French" soft, unripened cheese being sold out there is actually made in Wisconsin under license from the French companies. So that's a vote of confidence. Why is it that "unripened" cheese is the stuff that smells the "ripest" when you whiff it? For that matter, why do we drive on the parkway and park on the driveway? Holding our own in the cheese department.... It's definetly on my short list of CD's to buy. Despite Sharon's somewhat confusing rejoinder "NO you get DOC singing wayfaring stranger.. too.." [insert usual ?? here] - Pat had it right: on the title track of Wayfaring Strangers' latest SHIFTING SANDS OF TIME (Rounder 2001), Jennifer Kimball and Cathie Ryan share vocal duties. It's a fantastic song. They also team up on "June Apple." Jenn and Lucy team up on "High on a Mountain," "Memories of You," and the eponymous Bill Monroe tune "Wayfaring Stranger" itself - an incredible sound. I love WS and Cathie Ryan passionately, not to mention my heroes Jennifer and Lucy; we hope to feature lotsa good stuff from these new releases on Grassy Hill Radio ( http://radio.grassyhill.org ) this fall. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Oct 2001 20:45:30 EDT From: Sdgold60@aol.com Subject: [lucy-list] yo.. we found lucy in alaska with gorka...
