Hello, here is my short review of Lucy in the 'burgh. I attended the concert at the Club Cafe solo and sat in the bar area. Club Cafe is an intimate venue that accomodates just over one hundred people. Every seat is a good one and the setting and sound are perfect for acoustic performers. This is my second Club Cafe concert since I came to Pittsburgh in August and I just love it there. Lucy started out with Wayfaring Stranger and sung songs like Ten Year Night and By Way of Sorrow. FOr TYN she mentioned that the 16th anniversary of that kitchen floor incident was just a few weeks back. Rick was in the audience and for Lucy's first encore (she did two) she sung a Townes Van Zandt love song as requested by Rick. It was very sweet. Lucy also sang More Than This. Plus, in Lucy's banter she told the WHOLE Ricola cough drop story. I finally know what the heck you guys are talking about, I feel like a great secret has been revealed to me! So Kudos to anyone who gives Brian Ferry Ricola cough drops! Lucy also mentioned that singing at Club Cafe was like singing at a Planetarium b/c of the color changing star background. She could not think of any stars songs and the audience yelled out Vincent. Lucy got up to "eyes of china blue" and then could not remember the rest. Later in the evening someone suggested Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and Lucy (with a lot of audience participation) sung the first few bars. We need to get a Beatles and Don Mclean songbook to Lucy!!!!! Maybe she will learn those songs before coming back to Club Cafe. Lucy also talked about her mother and the photos for her new album (same as at Falcon Ridge). Denny, the sound G-d at Club Cafe was able to bring up Lucy's webpage with the promo photos on the screen next to the stage and Lucy pointed out her mom's favorite photos. It was hilarious. Alll in all it was a great concert. I wish I could give a setlist, but my memory is just not that good. I wish I had been less lazy and tried to stealth the concert, but I do know that Club Cafe makes recordings and videos of many of their performances which they hope to stream online within the next year or so. Its a pretty high tech little venue. After the show I got my copy of ESD signed (Ten year night is still my favorite though). ANd I had printed out a Lucy Promo Photo for Lucy to sign for a new acquintance of mine who observes the Sabbath and could not attend. Lucy signed "good shabbos" which was just very nice of her and gave a very sweet college student a total kick last night. The fashion divas may like to know that Lucy wore brown leather pants and a black t-shirt! ~Simona L. Simona L.
