Except for the addition of better Thank you for the explanation. Obviously you know more about this stuff than I do (which isn't difficult ;-). Thanks for taking the time to explain it and give the url for the article. I'll be sure to read it later today. I guess the thing that bothered me was the message it sends about getting back to "business as usual." I'm all for getting back to a sense of normalcy but obviously "business as usual" at airports isn't the route to go. By declaring no more curb side check in for security reasons, *ever again*, only to turn around three weeks later and said, well okay, you can have that convenience back, it sends the message to the general public that yes, curbside check in causes security breaches (whether that's actually a fact or not) and then they turn around and say it's okay again. I just think it causes undue concern. If curbside check in isn't a cause for concern in regards to security, they should have never done away with it in the first place. Does that make sense? The whole situation makes me wonder what's next...will knives start being allowed on flights again? Will they continue to pay people minimum wage to insure our security? Will the only thing stand between me and the plane be a couple of questions ("Did you pack your bags yourself?") I think it's just the start of a very slippery slope and it's not one I think we should go down. Hopefully I'm wrong. I guess at the core I'm just concerned that once again, we, as the American public will accept convenience over security and that the bottom line of the airlines will be the top priority. I hope I'm just being cynical and am proven completely wrong. Again Tom, thanks for the information. Thank you to those who sent me emails that were genuinely caring and just offering support...and a BIG thank you to those people who have sent me cds to replace some of those that were stolen. I'm in shock that people can be so nice to someone that they've never met in real life. I don't know what I did to deserve being a part of this "family" but I definitely appreciate it and am thankful for it every day. You guys took a really lousy time and made it alot better for me :) Thanks guys! Ian Alice Peacock - Real Day 'Real Day' is Alice's debut album, and is easily one of the most assured, polished and striking debuts we've ever had pass through our doors. As a singer/songwriter with a folk/country edge, she's most likely to be compared to artists such as Shawn Colvin, Lucy Kaplansky and Mary Chapin-Carpenter, but at no point does she sound derivative. It moves from beautifully subtle numbers with acoustic guitars, cello and mandolin, to upbeat rockers with a full compliment of guitars, hammond and Wurlitzer; this is a disc of contrasts over the 11 songs. Her vocals are as versatile as the musical backing, soft and expressive on the quieter tracks (especially the closer ' Secret Love'), to full on rock delivery on the more upbeat tracks. There are many highlights on 'Real Day', but the opening track 'I Hear You Say', and 'I'll Be The One' highlight the best points of the disc - intelligent use of instrumentation, strong melodies and great vocal delivery. Alice is an artist with real ilan, and 'Real Day' is an exceptional disc that deserves to incredibly well. #13.49 Samples http://www.fishrecords.co.uk/audio/ihearyou.ram http://www.fishrecords.co.uk/audio/cracks.ram http://www.fishrecords.co.uk/audio/betheone.ram ------------------------------ End of lucy-list-digest V3 #215 ******************************* This has been a posting from the Lucy Kaplansky mail list digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe lucy-list-digest" in the body of the message
