The announcement is below. I am told that there should be a lot of very talented "friends" at the show and I would expect it to be well worth seeing/listening to. Performers from all genres will be taking the stage to perform songs to jump-start out spirit. The evening will host a lineup of talent representing musicians and performers from The Bottom Line's past and present. The goal of the evening is to begin the healing process that is necessary and vital to our city -- for both the audience and the entertainment community at large -- to reclaim their sense of well-being. We can never turn back the clock to life as it was on Sept. 10, but this show hopes to prove there will be life after September September 11, 2001. Subject: [lucy-list] Re: Dayton Show Hi Pat and all, This listee was at the Canal Street show in Dayton. Lucy was in great voice and beautiful as usual. Her mood set the tone for a wonderful evening. So Pat, you were the guy who requested Townes. Thanks, it was lovely (btw: does anyone else have the new townes tribute cd "Poet"... nanci griffith, guy clark, emmylou, john prine, lucinda williams, willie, etc. ... all do a great job... highly recommended!). I was the guy who requested Broken Things! My girlfriend loves that song (we saw Buddy & Julie last week in Lexington, KY). Lucy had already sung By Way of Sorrow, but no one else was making requests so i thought i would make my girlfriend happy by requesting Broken Things (it worked! *S*). I couldn't place the song she played on piano either, but it really did sound familiar. Someone ask her about it at a future show. We talked to Lucy after the show (my girlfriend was thrilled to get her first signed cd--- she told Lucy how much she loved "Song for Molly"--- she is a geriatric nurse who works with Alzheimer patients). I told Lucy about the moving introduction Julie did for "Broken Things" the week before. Julie said it was her antidote to the comments made by Jerry Falwell about God punishing us for our sins by allowing the WTC to be attacked. Julie also said that God told her he wasn't a Baptist. I also gave Lucy a card with one of my favorite quotes: "Music washes away from the soul the dust of every day life" - Red Auerbach She thanked me for it when she signed ESD (hope it was with your water based marker, Pat). Lucy is such a gracious and lovely person.. so easy to love *S* Take care, Robert in KY p.s. Kristen, i'm so sorry for your loss. Is there anything else we can do as a group to help you? That piano song you guys couldn't identify was Gram Parsons' Hot Burrito # 1, and wow that was a sublime rendition! I thought it was a wonderful show from beginning to end. So many treats. Unfortunately my exhilaration quickly changed to despair when I checked my DAT afterwards and saw that it had stopped recording at 54 minutes (right after Guilty As Sin, early in the second set). I was so excited, too, because I felt I was getting a very special show archived. Not sure what happened, but I have a theory that the battery sled wasn't inserted snugly and a vibration on the table broke the connection enough to shut it off. I had fresh batteries with plenty of time left, etc. What I did record sounds superb, but it's only about half the show. Pat, you wrote that your mini disc ran out during Hot Burrito--did you pop another one in and record the rest of the show? I wonder if the guy who runs Canal tapes at all?
