At Grassy Hill she said that there's no firm plan for the next album, but that we should definitely keep asking. :) > I'm heading down to NYC on Thursday from Rockland County. I would allow some extra time, but notwithstanding Sharon's experience in the wilds of Staten Island, I've found the northwest approaches to be a piece of cake. Tap to the Sawmill/Henry Hudson or Palisades to the GWB, all ought to be fine off rush. There was one cop reading the newspaper on the HHB and all lanes are open. Of course this could all change at the next headline... I was down on Canal yesterday, closest I've been, it felt like I was in a Quatermass movie. Palpable evil. I was glad to get back uptown. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 19 Sep 2001 11:03:33 -0400 From: Donna Myers Subject: [lucy-list] Traffic NYC I'm in the same situation as you Paul. I'll be driving in from Monmouth County, NJ-which is south of NYC. I would normally take the Holland Tunnel(it is closed). The Lincoln Tunnel has been backed up for hours(police are checking trucks and vans). I might try driving up to the GWB and head south in the city. I'll leave as early as possible....I'm going to the late show. Any other suggestions would be welcome. See you at the show!! I just bought the new CD last night (I was going to buy it on the release date, but events in NYC seemed to make everything else seem less important...) and am thoroughly enjoying it. My wife and I are big LK fans out here in Iowa. We had a wonderful opportunity to see her perform last March in a church social hall in Des Moines. With no airplay and next to no publicity, Lucy was still able to draw about 300 folks to see her perform. I think the power of her music and writing is what does it for most of us. I'm looking forward to being part of the larger community of Lucy Kaplansky fans. And, of course, we hope to see her come our way again soon! ____________________________________________________________________ Brian Steffen Simpson College Indianola, IA 50125 Voice: 515.961.1650 FAX: 515.961.1350 Web: http://www.simpson.edu/~steffen "Here, we don't die.
