Also just read his 3-part interview with Lucy back in 1996 on the Folkwax website - I was amused by her comments about meeting Shawn Colvin ~~~~~~~~~ LK: "Met her, I think, in December 1980. I had been there [New York] a couple of years. She had just moved there. She and I met because - the story was that Cliff Eberhardt who was a good friend of mine, who I'd met in 1978 - I used to sing back-up with him. He also played guitar with me and Elliott [Simon]. Cliff told me - I remember him saying "Lucy, you're a great back-up singer but there is someone I know who is as good as you are." I thought "Oh come on Cliff, you're exaggerating." see http://www.visnat.com/entertainment/music/folkwax/default.cfm Paul (across the pond) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Aug 2001 06:43:14 EDT From: Sdgold60@aol.com Subject: [lucy-list] its all about lucy.. and rick... Although we have seen him perform with Dar Williams, Lucy and Cry Cry Cry, and on shared bills with Lucy and others -- and enjoyed it immensely -- he was outstanding solo with deft guitar work and soaring, rich vocals. It was a real treat. It's not that his songs are uplifting, because a lot of his material is dark and deep. But I came away feeling renewed in spirit because I knew I had shared a moment with one of the truly talented songwriters in the trade today -- a real artist with a journalist's eye for detail and a poet's way with language. Rod Picott opened with a fine showcase set in this small venue of maybe 75 seats with a world-class menu. Richard Shindell at Baldwin's Station Pub, Sykesville, Md., Aug. 22, 2001 1. Reunion Hill 2. I did "s*bscribe" to the e-zine last week to read that three-part interview (worth it!) but I didn't see on the page today how to get to the ESD review. Please advise. Thanks!
