The Flem-Tam site indicates that, just after the release of ESD on September 11th, Lucy will play several shows in Virginia. Anybody from the list in or around Alexandria, Charlottesville, or Ashland? The actual release date is a Tuesday....which is Lucy's "weekend" so to speak. I got a great consolation prize on the 13th, however. Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer (plugging their fabulous new CD "Drum Hat Buddha") in the little coffeehouse near my house. Such a deal. (I think Dave&Tracy amd Lucy, w/ and w/o Cry Cry Cry comprise a third to a half of my total song performance repertoire to date.) Any ideas on how we might help give Lucy's CD a proper launch, besides merely going out and buying one? Congratulations and Good Luck? Anyone have any ideas out there? Yes, I'm looking forward to seeing Lucy at the Birchmere on September 15. I saw her a few months ago for the first time at the Barns at Wolf Trap in Vienna, Virginia. I didn't know who she was and had never heard her music but became an instant fan. The Barns seats about 300 and is a wonderful place to hear acoustic music. She'll be back there on April 26. Tickets went on sale Monday and if anyone is interested, I suggest buying them before April. Because the Barns is such a small venue, it is often sold out. The floor seats about 200 and the balcony about 100 and I've enjoyed shows from both spots. I am still new to folk music and have only been to festivals. But, in the email below it was said that the coffee house had at most space for a hundred attendees. Since tickets usually max out at 20 dollars does that mean an artist can be booked for only two thousand (or less assuming that the tickets may be less and that the venue probably gets a significant chunk). I had wanted to do a women in music (specifically jewish women in music) series as part of a women's group that I hope to get off of the ground. If anyone has any info to share I would appreciate it.
