Good morning my fellow Lucy-listers! Last night was an especially great night in New York City and I have Lucy to thank for that! The WFUV Center Stage show took place last night featuring Lucy Kaplansky & Jeb Loy Nicols. I, along with Donna & Benay of the list, kind of assumed Jeb Loy would go on first and Lucy would follow. Unfortunately, we were wrong. I arrived around 6:15 or so, and as I approached the World Trade Plaza I heard Lucy singing, so of course I started to run to get there quicker. She was in the middle of 'One Good Reason'.(A complete set list will be included in this email). I was delighted to see what a HUGE crowd had gathered and they all seemed to very enthused and into the music! :) I stood along the side of the stage and scoped out the crowd, trying to locate everyone that I was supposed to meet up with. Lucy spotted me and smiled as she was singing. I smiled back, nodded my head in approval and waved to her. Benay located me and we sat and enjoyed every minute of the fantastic show together. It was a beautiful night in the city, a refreshing breeze was blowing through the Plaza and the towering skyscraper behind the stage was the perfect backdrop. It was wild to watch Lucy with her guitar on that stage and then to look up in awe at the tower behind her, that seems to touch the sky. Here is the set-list: 'One Good Reason' 'Play Your Song For Me' '10 Year Night' 'To Be Nowhere' (I love this more every time I hear it!) The Ricolla story, followed by 'More Than This' 'Scorpion' 'No More Excuses' 'Every Single Day' (This was the first time I had heard it. Lucy said it was also her first time playing it with a band. It rocks!) 'Turn The Lights Back On' 'The Swimming Song' (was the final song) The crowd was wild with applause, many got up to give her a standing ovation! :) Then my friend Donna found me and Benay. My parents also located us, they had come to see Lucy. They knew her from way back in 1979, 1980 when she used to be their waitress at Folk City in Greenwich Village. So, we *all* went over to greet Lucy, she was thrilled to see all of us and we chatted with her awhile. Needless to say, she was really surprised to see my parents again-it had been like 20 years since she last saw them, but she definitely remembered them! I gave Lucy a photo of her posing at the Bottom Line with me, Donna, Benay and Sharon G. She was delighted with the picture and called us 'Four Bitchin' Babes!' A fine time was had by all and we all said our goodbyes. I only wish our beloved Sharon could have been there with us. Luckily it is only a matter of 8 more days until I see Lucy again-at FALCON RIDGE! Yay! I look forward to seeing/meeting many of you there!
