Just in off the road after a 5 hour journey home from Camp Lucy. This weekend I really captured a taste of the "folk festival" Lucy that I haven't seen since last year at FRFF. Anyway, the gig was this: the kick-off weekend of the Lucy-Gorka-Cliff Eberhardt-Cheryl Wheeler mini-tour. I missed opening night at the ornate Fitzgerald Theatre in St Paul cuz I'd already made the travel plans to catch the second and third shows up in the northwoods--one on Minnesota's North Shore of Lake Superior, the second on Wisconsin's South Shore. (If only I'd had a ferryboat this morning, I could have saved a whole lot of driving around.) Anyway, I am here to tell you that the four have worked-up a pretty good show, which I would recommend. They do it "in the round", going around and around the circle of four performers--backing each other up from time to time. I do not have the time (it's after 1:00 AM) nor the energy (three days in the woods!) to go into detail. But there are some important announcements. First, the song on Lucy's new CD that John Gorka is on is "Song For Molly (or "Time To Go"). He did not seem to play a very big singing role in it. Second, the movie project which was the impetus for Lucy's first attempt at bubble gum pop (and I LOVE it!) has apparently become no-more. We all understood that such matters would be touch-and-go the whole while....well it went. There was no explanation. Third, because of the (now) September release date, there will not be any "Every Single Day" CD's for sale at Falcon Ridge. Boo Hoo! Both of this weekends northern venues were covered "Big Tops" out on lawns amidst great natural beauty. The Two Harbors show was right on the waterfront. It should make a nice contrast with the World Trade Center Towers! I second Sharon's motion that we Lucy fans at FRFF band together a little more than last year. I don't know how that would be arranged, but I'll help if I can. Just contact me at this (home) e-mail address. The work address I posted from for years is no longer working properly. My apologies to any trying to contact me. This has also caused me to fall behind on posts (like, who hasn't every now and then?) I did catch a post by Sharon about me running a banner or something to get other performers to cover "TYN". Well, the three others in these performances didn't COVER "TYN" but they did all join-in on hers and rock out. Hopefully, I'll have the picture to prove it the day after tomorrow. I'm gonna get off of this computer now. It's ruining my nature high! (Not to mention interfering with my sleep!)
