Thanks a lot, and don4t worry, your german is still great, at least as good as
my english ... what may not say much, I have to admit ;-) ... but it4s
even better than the german of a lot of our politicians ...

Thanks a gain, nice offer ... I4ll probably do so ;-)
Another big thank you to you and all the other people helping me out on the
songtitles, you4re amazing ...

I'll second that list! Am I the only one that finds the

Just received an e-mail update from Mr. Bob Feldman about Lucy's new CD.
"I just heard the final mixes on Lucy Kaplansky'e new one "Every Single Day"
and it is a fantastic cd. I'm hoping to release it the first week in
August"
Looks like the release date has moved forward enough for us to expect Lucy
to be "packin'" CD's at Falcon Ridge July 27-29.
Lucy will be in Minnesota on July 13th & 14th so I hope she picks up a
personal stash at that time!
I'm pretty exited about it all, actually!

before you get all bunched.. up...
i wrote bob from red house about a month ago
to ask if there would be the new lucy cd at falcon ridge given the closeness of date.. to the release date
he responded that they MOST likely would not have
the new Lucy cd available..
maybe that has changed.. i was hoping to get me
a copy before the street date too..
so if BOB is out there.. can you comment please
when CAN WE.. the most devoted of Lucy fans
get our copy of HER NEW CD...

Subject: [lucy-list] A Nod to Bob: Greg Brown as a "New Dylan" (NLC)
given all the good press about A Nod to Bob (and a nod to another Bob:
Feldman - nice work!), i thought i'd pass this little story along:
a few years ago i was hanging out with greg at a small bar in way, way
upstate new york after a gig, and we fell into a conversation about the
state of american folk music. i mentioned that i had read somewhere that
someone had written that "in the stream of folk music, everyone is fishing
downstream from Bob Dylan", the implication being that all the good songs
have already been written.
I commented that I didn't agree with the statement - Dylan is without
question an american icon, but to say that there are no more good songs out
there is myopic at best. greg agreed, and then brought it all back home in
an eloquent way that made me realize that at that moment, i was looking
over my beer bottle across a small table at another true american icon.
after a sip of whiskey, greg sighed and said. "well, i don't agree either,
but in the stream of american folk music, Dylan's the biggest rock."
(meaning, in my interpretation, he's had the greatest effect on the musical
current of those who've come after).
just some words for thought.

Nod to Bob is what it's called, huh? I guess I wasn't paying very close
attention when I reached for it on the rack. I brought it home and put it on
and was surprised to hear Kurt Cobain singing This Wheel's on Fire. I
quickly grabbed the jewel box only to discover that I had accidentally
purchased Nodding to Bob: Rock and Roll's Best Known Heroin Addicts Salute
Bob Dylan by mistake. I gave it couple of listens and it started to grow on
me, sort of like a bad habit. It has Jerry Garcia doing Blowing in the Wind,
Keith Richards doing an amazing version of Maggie's Farm, Janis Joplin doing
a really bluesy soulful version of Rainy Day Women and Lou Reed weighing in
with a smokin' Subterranean Homesick Blues, among others. A somewhat
difficult to listen to, but gem of a track nevertheless, is Plastic Ono Band
featuring John and Yoko doing a primal scream rendition of The Times They Are
a Changin'. Check this album out!

I was only able to stay for the first show because I had to leave for New
York, but WOW. Alice Peacock opened and Lucy brought Jennifer Kimball with
her....WOW. Wow, wow, wow. Anyone who has never seen these two sing
together, find a way to remedy that!! Jaws were on the floor, and whenever
Jennifer left the stage, Lucy had to placate the disappointed crowd by saying
"she'll be back, I promise." There are some people who are simply meant to
sing together, and Lucy and Jennifer are two such people.
Set list:
The Angels Rejoiced
Back of His Hand
One Good Reason
Don't Mind Me
Broken Things (w/ Jennifer)
Ten-Year Night (w/Jennifer)
No More Excuses (w/Jennifer)
By Way of Sorrow (w/Jennifer)
More Than This
Song for Molly
It's Just You (w/ Jennifer, Lucy on piano)
Dad's ABC song
Song About Pi
End of the Day
Turn the Lights Back On
Guinevere (with Alice and Jennifer.....by the last verse, Alice had found her
groove and the two harmonies with Lucy's lead were UNbelievable....Jennifer's
simply soared)
Encores:
Where Would I Be Without You (w/ Jennifer, Jennifer on piano, some audience
sing-along included)
With this, I pass her to sharon for tomorrow night in Franklin. Wish I could
be there....
Peace,
Sheila
