Concert ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sat, 14 Apr 2001 03:26:28 EDT From: Folkyman@aol.com Subject: [lucy-list] Pasadena,CA. Concert Are there any So. Cal-ers out there going to Lucy's Pasadena concert next week? My wife and I have gone to see her there for the last 3 years. Since Lucy usually plays there around our wedding anniversary, it has sort of become our traditional celebration. We live several miles from Pasadena but that is the closest Lucy comes to our town. There is a middle-eastern restaurant in Pasadena called Sahara that we really like but rarely get to. We will have dinner there and then head over to the concert at the Neighborhood Church. It is a very pleasant place to see a concert. The grounds are green and pretty and the church is fairly large and has great acoustics. I have seen several other concerts there, including Cheryl Wheeler, Loudon Wainwright III,Tom Russell & Dave Alvin. Folk music isn't as popular here as it is on the east coast but there are is a small hard core fan base that seems to be growing. The better known folk performers can still fill a club or church in the LA or Pasadena areas. San Diego also has a large number of folk concerts and events. Even in Claremont, just a couple miles from me, there is a Folk Music Center open every day and a yearly festival that they sponsor. It draws mostly local performers but Bryan Bowers, Mary McCaslin & R Carlos Nakai have all made appearences over the last few years. See you at the show next week - RKP ------------------------------ End of lucy-list-digest V3 #84 ****************************** This has been a posting from the Lucy Kaplansky mail list digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe lucy-list-digest" in the body of the message
