You might try the Cornelia Street Cafe. It's where Lucy used to perform with other notables in her VERY early days. It'a at the corner of Bleeker and Cornelia St. The food is terrific and they have live entertainment in the downstairs area every night of the week. 

Another place close to the BL is The Time Cafe, two blocks away on Lafayette, just off 4th. That's where The Fez under the Time Cafe) is located. 

Another great resource is www.citysearch.com. Click on New York, and then you can chose restaurants by type of food and by neighborhood. You'll get honest reviews, maps, and a direct link to Zagats ratings. I use it ALL the time.
