From: owner-lucy-list-digest@smoe.org (lucy-list-digest) To: lucy-list-digest@smoe.org Subject: lucy-list-digest V3 #41 Reply-To: lucy-list@smoe.org Sender: owner-lucy-list-digest@smoe.org Errors-To: owner-lucy-list-digest@smoe.org Precedence: bulk lucy-list-digest Sunday, February 18 2001 Volume 03 : Number 041 In this issue: [lucy-list] choo on this ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sat, 17 Feb 2001 13:46:54 EST From: Coledawgy@aol.com Subject: [lucy-list] choo on this last night was the end of my lucy high until this summer.. but it was amazing. misty and i survived the horrendous drive to chattanooga through monsoon rains. since we had some time to kill, we decided to go to a cheesy tourist spot, ruby falls. it was fine but i'm much more of a fan of outdoor waterfalls which you can see without a guide and stuff. if i want to go in a cave, i want to go spelunking (not that i have ever been but it sounds cool). i digress.. we got to the oh-so-trendy-for-chattanooga urban art institute with about 20 minutes to spare. it's a neat little place. very much under construction right now though. i wish we would have had a chance to explore because there was a little art exhibit next to the room that the show was in and there were several other rooms nearby but the doors were closed. we opted to go ahead and get a decent seat since there appeared to be quite a few people there. there was an opener. his name is michael curtis. he had a strong voice and interesting guitar playing but i didn't particularly like his songs. i guess he played about 5 songs. lucy came out to mucho applause from the crowd. she seemed surprised. she started out and within the first three songs, got extremely pissed at the sound guy because there was nothing coming out of the monitors, then no vocals, then no guitar pickup, then just too loud. she kept stopping in the middle of the songs to practically yell at him. as i said to misty though, the versions of those songs were the best i've ever heard. the anger fit well and her voice sounded better than i've ever heard it on those three. anyway, the show was markedly different than the bluebird show (at least compared to what i see that she usually does back to back). she thinks i still care one more reason - (super angry lucy kicked ass!) end of the day back of my hand broken things ten year night what's so funny 'bout peace love and understanding don't mind me the tide more than this - - lucy took a break - mary and the gallant soldier scorpion five in the morning return of the grievous angel i know what kind of love this is (audience request) song for molly (i thought it was called time to go) (i have to say that this was the first time a song has ever made me cry in concert) that's mathematics song about pi by way of sorrow encore: AUDIENCE SINGING HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LUCY!!!! mary magdalene (settled on after several requests but since that was the loudest) encore 2: nowhere (my request.. hee hee) i guess after looking at it, the setlist wasn't all that different but the show felt a lot different. the crowd was much louder (and bigger too, i guess). she wore the exact same clothes as the night before, as i guess she often does. all in all, a fabulous night. and to boot, it was raining less or not at all for a while on the way back! i hope lucy had a safe trip to charlotte. anyone going to be there? ..nicole ------------------------------ End of lucy-list-digest V3 #41 ****************************** This has been a posting from the Lucy Kaplansky mail list digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe lucy-list-digest" in the body of the message
