"In Your Dreams Folk Festival- II" A sure sign of spring! When daydreams at work turn to sun-soaked afternoons and moonlit nights sitting on blankets in front of festival stages watching all of our favorites as well as thrilling to some NEW discoveries. Of course, many people have their "pet" festival and sheer logistics prevent us from easily checking out one anothers' favorites. So we fashion the "In Your Dreams Folk Festival" set in some mythic, magical field somewhere we can all find in our sleep. Based on who you've seen before and enjoyed, or who you feel are rising stars, or artists who haven't been available for awhile but should be touring this summer, pick out 5-10 stellar performers you'd like to see this summer. If you did this last year, try not to look back at your preferences then before making this years list. Try to treat this less as a WISH list of old favorites and more an exercise in ACTUALLY BOOKING a dream folk festival. (Sorry! That means no dead artists!) I'll get going on mine and post it later today! I guess the core is the same as last year, but I've slotted in a couple of new favourites for variety! (in no particular order...) 1) "Cryo Cryo Cryo" -- folk supergroup from the 90's, whose members' individual careers were flash frozen at the time but which have recently thawed enough to seperate the parts. 2) Martin Sexton -- A lovable wonder bear. He plays all the guitar parts and sings all the vocal parts in his funky effervescent brand of blue-eyed soul. 3) Greg Brown -- management says he's taking a break from touring this year but he's scheduled at Winterhawk after FRFF. 4) The Nields -- when is the latest addition to the clan due? 5) Ellis Paul -- this is one top notch professional! With a PA/without a PA; with a band/without a band. Marvelous! 6) Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer -- why is it I cannot get their tunes out of my head?! And a new CD of 'em by summer! 7) David Lindley, Darol Anger and Dave Grisman (and their many assorted stringed instruments) -- West Coast variety! 8) String Cheese Incident & Leftover Salmon -- psychadelic mountain slam-grass for complete and total dance abandon!) 9) Peter Mulvey with Goody -- how LOW can you GO?! 10) Karen Savoca -- with her husband Pete Heitzman, she will herald Spring around here in six weeks with a voice that can melt snow... ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 6 Feb 2001 18:47:11 EST From: Fantine729@aol.com Subject: Re: [lucy-list] In Your Dreams...a perfect ten!
