I don't know precisely when it was recorded (must have been some time last fall) but it was refreshingly current. She played (the yet un-named) "Written on the Back of His Hand" that she and Rick had written the day before. Also "Time to Go", "Small Dark Movie", and "Don't Mind Me". Plus a lot of talk about the songwriting process as she experiences it with Rick. It was my maiden voyage with recording something from the web and it was not a total success. I had to run off to Radio Shack to get a special jack to plug in the back. There were some brief dead spots where the connection was temporarily lost. It's on tape, not CD. At times, it seems garbled. Must be a sound card/internet connection thing. I'm probably not the best person to ask for a copy. I found some old "sent" e-mails in my Lucy folder and I pulled one out, polished-it-up and sent it off again. It was a Thank You sent last winter to the folks at the Winnipeg Folk Festival with a suggestion to bring Lucy back for the festival forthcoming. She played there in 1999 on the heels of her Ten Year Night release. Last year she was at New Bedford that same weekend but the highly competitive Winnipeg festival doesn't usually invite people in back-to-back years anyway. Anyway, we can dream..... Dreaming of summer folk festivals is about all I got going right now in the frozen heartland. Our second coldest and second snowiest December ever gave way to a delightful January thaw. But now that it has ended the skating rinks are hacked-up and the snow is all crusted-over--no more winter wonderland for the time being. Most itinerant folk musicians avoid these parts during the heart of the winter because, I would imagine, inclement weather can really muck-up their engagements. I am happy to say that Karen Savoca will be the first outside explorer to venture up here once the sun gets a little higher in the sky. She's booked at least four shows in Minnesota in March and that is only two months away. Her voice can melt snow, let me tell you, so Spring should definitely be around the corner when she shows up. Best of luck to Lucy and gang in the studio! They're probably at work as I write! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 16 Jan 2001 12:46:05 -0500 (EST) From: "The Myers Family" Subject: [lucy-list] Lucy's new CD Well I heard Lucy on WFUV again last night. I love her new songs and can't wait for the new cd. Did anyone see Steve Earle and Kacey Chambers on Austin City Limits last Sat? I love Steve Earle....Kacey Chambers was fantastic! I really enjoyed her performance. Dar Williams and David Gray are on Austin City Limits this Sat Jan 20th. Has Lucy ever performed there? I'm sure she would be great as usual! They have a bunch of alternative bands, and a nice little folk section! Lot of stuff I haven't heard! Anyway, they have it set up so you can rate the bands and leave comments. Lucy's had been rated 7 times i think, but very few comments...I suggest we go there and leave good comments and high ratings! It's a pretty neat site. It's @ http://www.auralgasms.com boi ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 16 Jan 2001 19:38:34 EST From: Fantine729@aol.com Subject: [lucy-list] Lucy on WUMB I was headed to the supermarket this afternoon when who should come across my car radio but Lucy.....What's So Funny 'Bout Peace, Love and Understanding? she asked. Peace, Sheila Reserve your copy of "The Kennedys -- Positively Live" now! http://www.KennedysMusic.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 16 Jan 2001 20:04:27 EST From: Odie2535@aol.com Subject: Re: [lucy-list] Lucy's new CD Donna, Thanks for the heads up on Dar and David. I will definitely be waiting for that performance. By the way, I feel sort of out of it here in CA but what is WFUV? Is that a folk radio station or is it an Internet station (maybe both?). Hope your new year is going well. Tomorrow starts our first day of the new semester. I will probably be inundated with students. Need to rest tonight. Will play a little guitar and go to bed early. Take care, Nick ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 16 Jan 2001 20:19:08 -0500 (EST) From: "The Myers Family" Subject: [lucy-list] Steve Earle Steve Earle will be at the Beacon Theatre on Sat Jan 27th. Lucy is scheduled at the Auditorium in Blackwood, NJ on that night. Does anyone know where this venue is? She is also playing at a Methodist Church in West Creek, NJ on Feb 3rd....anyone have any info on that venue? Musical and Pollstar don't list any phone numbers or ticket info.
