I'd also second the recommendations to check out one of her albums with the Bitchin' Babes and to see her live (if only for the baton twirling). Although I fell in love with her music before I saw her live, many people need to see her in person to appreciate her, and not just for the baton twirling and the glow sticks and other props that she brings to her concerts. She is truly and Jill of All Trades! What an electric night. The audience included lots of fabulously talented people, including, all the current Babes, Julie Gold, Flash Rosenberg, Anthony Zerbe (the actor), Irvin Drake, the man who wrote "What Makes Sammy Run," and the Frank Sinatra song, "It Was A Very Good Year." Christine (who is actually the founder of the Bitchin Babes), not only acknowledged all these terrific people, but even performed some of their works. As always, she gave out fun things to the audience before intermission, including a copy of my book, Creme de la Femme - The Best of Women's Contemporary Humor. Christine is the ultimate cheerleader for any talented person with whom she comes into contact. Her heart is a big as all outdoors and, yes, she does a mean job of twirling those batons! I bet that the new wave of folk musicians/singers songwriters agree that she is one of those responsible for keeping the folk world alive. When she hosts John Platt's show on WFUV, she ALWAYS plays new songs by little known performers. Okay, enough already, but I know this post would be okay with Lucy. She loves Christine Lavin, too. Anne PS I was at APAP on Sunday night and ran into Lucy just after she performed. As always, she looked looked terrific! We had a lovely little chat. Can't wait to see her with Richard S at the Outpost in Montclair. Glad I bought my tickets months ago. ------------------------------ End of lucy-list-digest V3 #8 ***************************** This has been a posting from the Lucy Kaplansky mail list digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe lucy-list-digest" in the body of the message
