Have no fear, in her senatorial role she will endure performances by HUNDREDS of her constituents in the next six years. What you really hope is that some of them get invited to DC to do various command performances. Lucy is a perfect candidate since she parallels Hillary in one important respect. - -- ignatz mouse, widda bwick ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Dec 2000 16:48:36 EST From: Sdgold60@aol.com Subject: [lucy-list] lucy and hillary... My first live Lucy gig, and what a one to pick! Not just sublime, but also her biggest yet in the UK- both in terms of the size of the venue and in the number of people there. She was really excited to be in the same venue the Beatles had played (her first ever such thrill) and for the event to be promoted by the wonderful Stuart, who had seen the Fab Four in Sheffield in 1963! Another notable first came as a result of the Bryan Ferry collaboration this week. She confirmed that she had sung backing vocals on four tracks and was still obviously knocked out by the experience. This led to a new cover! Supported by some of us out there she sang the old Roxy Music classic 'More Than This', a hit in 1982 or thereabouts, if memory serves me well. Bryan went out and bought her some throat lozenges for a slight cold...she reckons she'll bronze them rather than use them! Apart from the fact that she thinks driving round Sheffield is a nightmare (agreed), and that she coped really well with an intermittent guitar connection problem, that's probably the main points covered. I'm sure the other listers will fill in the bits I missed through sheer pleasure overdrive. Set including a double encore lasted 100 minutes. Tracks, titled as close as I can get them... He Thinks I Still Care? (???nobody really sure who wrote it, but Lucy said it was a hit for George Jones) One Good Reason End Of The Day (started writing it in Southport) Guilty As Sin (not finished article yet) Broken Things (due on next CD) Don't Blame Me (still due to be in Reservation Blues film) Ten Year Night Crazy Dreams (also due on next CD, she seemed pleased that many of us knew it was a Paul Brady song) More Than This (with walk away from mike fade at end!) Time To Go (preceded by long story about mom/computer/prayer book) Written on the Back of Hand (followed by excerpts from the web-circulated Revocation of American Independence...I have a full copy if anyone wants one e-mailing) Excerpt from That's Mathematics followed by Song About Pi (Prof Irving once gave a talk at the University of Sheffield) Five in the Morning (What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding Turn The Lights Back On Speaking With The Angel (requested) Scorpion Encore: Guinevere (requested and utterly beautiful) Return of the Grievous Angel (requested) The long drive up yesterday and back today was worth every damn minute... You guys in Scotland and Ireland are in for a treat!!! Festive best wishes to all Brian M. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Dec 2000 15:14:13 -0800 From: "meganclaire syverson" Subject: Re: [lucy-list] Clintons in UK good insight. they might be on soon, have they heard her vioce? once they do, they'll have a new meaning of music. real music. that happened to me. when i met with her after she performed. i thought "WOW" she inspired me to play even more. i am a musician. she really is a great singer megan claire blair, wisconsin ________________________________________________________________ Get you FREE Firstname email address at http://www.Firstname.com Get a FREE Cell Phone at http://www.freecellphonedeal.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Dec 2000 20:21:00 EST From: Sdgold60@aol.com Subject: [lucy-list] hey sheila sounds like brian has the travelling jones for the DOC...
