Hi all, does anybody know anything about the background to the House on Fire compilation, that was released by Red House records back in 95 (I think). I picked up a copy in a second hand store last week as it had Lucy on it, but I don't know the background to the compilation - was it just a promo from Red House (...in which case it was quite good as there are 17 tracks on it) and are they easy to find ? Also, while I'm at it, has anybody got any suggestions for Greg Brown albums ? I've heard enough of his stuff at this stage to warrant taking a plunge and buying an album or two. any tips would be appreciated, thanks. Have a nice day now, Gerry PS Hello Sharon!!!!! If the Doc comes calling this Christmas I'll have to start baking again! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Nov 2000 09:22:57 EST From: RFELDHOUSE@aol.com Subject: Re: [lucy-list] House on Fire compilation / any Greg Brown starter tips? The House on Fire cd was originally put out for the Red House tenth anniversary. Ae felt it wa a wonderful way to introduce people to all of our artists. We have since done another House on fire volume 2 and are working on a third for our fifteenth anniversary. We are very selective as to who we record at Red House and have always felt that if you appreciate one of our artists you are likelyto enjoy them all. Many of our friends have bought a Lucy cd and have gone on to discover Greg Brown and John Gorka and Archie Fisher, Hart Rouge etc. As far as Greg Brown albums I would start with one of these; Dream Cafe, Further In, Poet Game, Slant Six Mind and Covenant. Dream Cafe is one of my personal favorites but every one of his seventeen albums are interesting and the type of records you play over and over. Apparently the people at AOL have not included the option of sending messages as plain text in the latest version of their software. Messages sent as other than plain text get bounced to me to fix up because the list server software cannot interpret them. So, depending upon my availability, messages may sit for a while before they get forwarded. The great people at smoe are attempting to automate around AOL's problem and AOL has been made aware of it, but those of you on AOL who haven't upgraded might want to wait a bit to see if this gets fixed. Anyone not using AOL 6 may still want to look at their mail software to make sure that the address book setting for Lucy-list (and other lists you are on) is set to plain text only. Any questions about this, please reply directly to me. Thanks.
