It was my first time there and seeing Lucy. Let me tell you, it was incredible! For those who don't know, the Palms is in Davis, CA. It is a refurbished barn with an incredible sound system. The place holds maybe 250 people, quite intimate and brings in a charm all its own. Lucy seemed to be having an incredible time making several comments on how much fun it was to be there and the crowd responded in kind. She said something to the effect that it was her favorite"shack" to play. Even "ticket" the dog seemed to be enjoying himself joining her on stage. Whoever sees her play here will also see Nena backing her up. Don't miss her. I was totally amazed at her abiltity to accompany and fill in on almost every song. Why have I never heard of this woman before, she was also sensational. The whole night was athrill. Dad, Irv, did the Pi song and Lucy joined him for a couple of other mathematical numbers. Mom was there too. For me of course the night was full just watching Lucy's beautiful eyes while listening to her sing tracks from all of her CD's. At one point, she broke a string during one of her songs. She continued playing the five string Martin and then went acapello (sp?) on the next song while Nena replaced the string. The woman has great presence on stage. I fall asleep almost every night listening to her voice and to those of the other Cry Cry Cry members. To see her in person and talk to her some afterwords was like opening up the door to many of the questions I had about how the music was written. I don't usually get too excited about performers, but Lucy seems more like a kindred sister. And by the way, I loved the Jewish joke. Also, I got her to sign a poster that I brought back from Mt. Wachusette Community College where she had performed last year. Man, it was a great night. ------------------------------ End of lucy-list-digest V2 #271 ******************************* This has been a posting from the Lucy Kaplansky mail list digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe lucy-list-digest" in the body of the message
