Neglecting to gauge the audience appropriately (they were a rather sedate crowd), *I* hear Lucy's name and let out a rather large whoop and start clapping, which meets with TOTAL silence. Brenda then turns in my direction and asks "you've heard of her, have you?" :-) >>It wasn't 10-Year-Night, but it was a beautiful, beautiful cover of The Tide<< Sheila, I had a remarkably similar situation going to hear Katy Tessman in St. Paul except that I wasn't the only one whooping and the song was "Scorpion" Lucy must feel really flattered whenever people cover her tunes. Anyone else have an "X covers Lucy" story? Many students and faculty now know first hand her great songs, guitar playing, and singing. Hollins wants to bring her back. We will keep you all informed. I just joined this list a few minutes ago, and I thought I'd say hello. My name's rhiannon, I'm 19, from North Carolina (home in new bern, school in asheville). I saw lucy Friday night at the Arts Center in Carrboro, NC, and after hearing her mention the list it occurred to me that I should really sign up. Some of you might know me from other lists, I'm a lurker on the Dar list, and frequent poster on the Nields Nook, Eddie From Ohio list, and Kennedys list. I don't know how long I'll be around, seeing as how much mail I already get... but i'll probably stick around for the rest of the semester at least. The show the other night was wonderful. It was my first full lucy show (i saw a little of her mainstage set, and a few workshops, at falcon ridge), as all her other NC shows have conflicted with school (and those of you that know me know that it must've been a major confliction!). She played several of my favourite songs. I finally got to hear the Pi song! During the show an ADORABLE little girl gave her flowers, and was just generally a lot of fun to watch. She is definitely a folk fan at a young age!! After the show I got to talk to Lucy for a little while, and even lend her my CD opener. She is definitely a super-nice person! If anybody saw me there, I was wearing khaki overalls with a green tanktop...i think I had my hair up in a bun but I can't remember. I was very near the front of the line to get in, and was sitting the second row behind the 'forementioned little girl (whose name is flannery...i think that's the CUTEST name!). Anyhow. Hello to the lucy list, I'm glad to be here!!! - -rhiannon ----------------------------------------- "I'm stopping traffic, cinemagraphic With my long black coat hanging down in the dirt And my hair clinging to my face in the rain Like a goddess from the cult of beautiful pain" -dar williams ------------- http://www.unca.edu/~rcrichar/index2.htm ----------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 9 Oct 2000 22:57:26 EDT From: Fantine729@aol.com Subject: Re: [lucy-list] hello to the lucy list Welcome to Rhiannon, one of my all-time favorite people!!
