Lucy was in great spirits, and played a lot of new material. I got to the Cafe at 7:30. The Cafe has only 1 bathroom, and there was a long line. So, Mark lets me do downstairs to use the one there. As I walk down the steps, Lucy appears. The downstairs is a dirty room used for storage. It also doubles for musicians to warm up, and prepare. After using the bathroom, I hear Lucy singing from around the corner. I peel my head around, and she is standing strumming her guitar, and running through a short melody of songs. It was surreal. Lucy was wearing a white short sleeve, low cut shirt standing on a cement floor, and large white lights hanging from the ceiling that seemed to shine right on her. The Cafe was packed. I've seen Lynn Miles, Terri Allard, and Karen Savoca there. During those shows, the audience was indifferent at times. Not with Lucy. I didn't see any Lucy Listers there, but a lot of fans were there. The setlist: Open Heart (Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained)???(Never heard this one before) One Good Reason Five In The Morning Guilty As Sin (new) The Kid Ten Year Night Don't Mind Me (Play Your Song For Me) Nowhere I Wish It Would Rain (Nanci Griffith) Time To Go (Lucy remarked that it was only the 3rd time she performed it live) That's Mathematics A Song About Pi Scorpion End Of The Day Turn The Lights Back On Evangeline (Mary Gauthier). (Lucy said she learned it a FRFF) By Way Of Sorrow E: Guinevere E: The Ballad Of Mary Magdalene E2: Broken Things (Julie Miller) Lucy remarked how friendly everyone is in the Rosendale/Woodstock area, and I agree. Stop at Bread Alone in Woodstock, and the folks there treat you like you are their best friend. What a fun night after the awful night on Friday seeing Ariel. I should have opted for Richard Shindell in Mahwah. See you at the Turning Point on Wednesday. It should be a blast with John Putnam.
