I have a friend who has an extra ticket to the show tomorrow night in Providence. If you or someone you know still needs a ticket, please respond to me via email at jealbano@mtholyoke.edu as soon as possible! It will sell for the same price she paid for it, although I am not sure what that is at the moment. Sorry about that. Very shortly after his set began, Richard called her onstage...there she was, in a tan jacket and black pants, looking happy to be there. She was onstage with Richard for a good part of his set, in fact, and she was in fine form, harmonizing wonderfully on a number of Richard's songs. (Someone requested "Ten Year Night" at one point, but of course it was Richard's show...) I wasn't trying to keep a set list, but here are the ones I can remember Lucy singing on--- "Kenworth of My Dreams," "The Next Best Western" (how I wish she were on the CD version of that!), "Are You Happy Now?", "Sing Me Back Home," and a song whose title I'm not sure of even though I heard Lucy and Richard do it once before---it includes lyrics about "this old town" and earthquakes and the 31st floor and "the Lord's burning rain." Best of all, though, was "Mary Magdalene"---Lucy sang it, with Richard harmonizing on the choruses, and it was one of the best performances of the song I've heard (in fact, I think I would have found it worth the ticket price just to hear that song). Richard mentioned that those of us at the early show were lucky because Lucy wouldn't be there for the second show---her mother was in town, and was in fact right there in the audience! Anyway, it was a delightful evening (and seeing Lucy tonight was some consolation for the fact that I'm going to miss her show with Ellis Paul here in NY the day after Thanksgiving). Hello to the other listers I saw there (and those who may have been there whom I didn't see!). There are a couple of college-aged-but-not-yet-21 gals who so desperately want to see this show, but there is an age restriction. I called the venue myself and begged, pleaded, whined, cajoled, etc., and managed to get the guy to say that should they be accompanied by someone OLDER (like in their 30s) they would be allowed in, but they couldn't just show up with young friends, even if they were over 21. I would volunteer, but it's a 17-hour drive from here, which is, well, a bit too far, even for Pete and Maura.....PLUS, I am supposed to be seeing Lucy on Saturday (whaddya know....there IS Lucy content here :-) Feel free to contact me off-list if you were planning on going to this show anyway and would be willing to help get these guys in the door.....BOTH of them are almost willing to have UNDER-21 tattooed across their foreheads, and one is planning on just going and listening from outside, but I'd really love to get them in there one way or another (if only so they can send fab reviews to the Kennedys list :-) Thanks so much for humoring me!! I'm hoping Lucy shows up at Richard Shindell's show in Lexington this Saturday, since she'll be in the area...... That would be "Sin City". Great tune. Since everyone was at the BL for the RS show, only 12 people showed up to the Turning Point for Lynn Miles! Still, a great show!
