I can't recall from which song though. Anyone remember?<< Recent interviews with Lucy have indicated that she is still embarrassed by the "pathetic seventies" name of her first band "Steps In Flight" so when I came across the song "Fountain of Sorrow" on Browne's 1974 classic "Late For the Sky" (second song....on SIDE ONE whatever THAT means!) I was afraid to bring it up. Now that the secret is out we can ask Lucy to play it! I'm sure her response will be something like "No way! Gag me with a spoon!" or some other seventies colloquialism. I've never listened to SIDE TWO of a CD. What's on it? ETimothy (I'm remembering all this at work from memory so if I got the name of the song wrong someone please correct me. Thanks!) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 Sep 2000 10:12:46 -0500 From: Timothy Bruce Subject: [lucy-list] RonG wins the prize If this were a game show, RonG would be the big winner! 17:45 - 17:07 = 38 minutes to get that question about "Steps in Flight" and answer it! Way to go! Makes my effort pale in comparison! So if your so smart, Ron, please explain me this. (Big Money Bonus Round!) On the CDNow page that I used to back up my rusty 70's-damaged memory it offered TWO CD versions of Late For The Sky for sale. One from 1990 for $11.49, (only $5.49 for cassette) and the other CD having copyright 1974 and costing $26.49! What's the difference between the two that would justify the cost? Tick...tick...tick... (PS. If you're not smart enough to know the answer but ARE smart enough to make one up, give it a try. Us schmucks may not be able to tell the difference!) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 Sep 2000 11:34:22 EDT From: Rongrittz@aol.com Subject: Re: [lucy-list] RonG wins the prize << So if your so smart, Ron, please explain me this. It retailed for about $25, but I never bought it (already having LFTS on LP, 8-track, cassette, regular CD and stone tablet). However, someone I know who DID buy it swears that . . . and I quote . . . "It's louder." There's a Spinal Tap joke in there somewhere . . . Get that album on the record player. Late for the Sky is a classic JB album and should not be ignored for any reason. I'm sure The Doc would agree and if she brings it out of the hat when she comes to Scotland next I will stand her a drink. If you are reading this Lucy, what I am promising will be quite a feat as I am renowned as having "short arms and long pockets". but for you......... If Ian stands Lucy a drink it will be the event of the year, forget the Lucy gig. You don't say what she has to bring out of the hat....the JB song, a rabbit? Anyway if we're talking mean, it's really Lucy's round this year. I got the drinks last year :-) Iain, very rainy Edinburgh. - ----- Original Message ----- From: IAN BUCHAN To: Sent: 13 September 2000 19:56 Subject: Re: [lucy-list] My "secret" is out! > Get that album on the record player.
