I am listening to a jazz compilation right now that came with the latest issue of a jazz magazine I buy once in a while. It has a track on it by Jim Beard called "Jambolay", taken from the album "Advocate". According to the liner notes the guitar parts are played by a Jon Herington. Would that be "Lucy's Jon Herington" I wonder? Anybody know? happy Sunday, Katrin - -------------------------------------------------------- - If I didn't dream I'd be dead - Peter Mulvey (all in good fun) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 Aug 2000 10:59:25 +0100 From: "jenny*" Subject: [lucy-list] The Thief Okay, I hate to have to be the one to break this but: Emmylou Harris has *stolen* lucy's jacket... the denim one with the silky material stuff on the bottom and on the sleeves. I suggest that we, as a nice gesture to da doc, go and retrieve it... WHO'S WITH ME??? Yesterday morning when i woke up, all the lights in the house were... becuase it was dark outside at 11am and absoloutly pi%^&*( it down. But me and my entire family packed up our rug and headed to Hopetoun house in edinburgh... wooowhooo... It was a groovy day... It was sooo quiet compared to events like the cambridge folk festival and stuff... You could actually *move*. The performers for the first part of the afternoon weren't too bad, jay farrar, the felson... blah, blah, i'd never heard of any of them. Except Kevin Montogmery, i had dfintly heard of him ; ) Mr Graveling, i didn't dare approach you hobnobbing with the stars... i was too scared. And then there was STEVE EARLE... Lucy says that man is gawd, but i have to argue and say that he is dfintly bigger than gawd... and not just physically. He played the songs i really really wanted to hear, SOmeday, Fearless Heart, My old friend the blues (everyone through back their heads and howled along with him... including my brother, it was his favourite song as a three year old... and now he's 14 and normally refuses to sing, participate nicely in anything...) , Copperhead Road as well as some nw stuff and some stuff off El Corazon. The guy behind askd my mum how w knew all the words and she just claimed we'd been brought up on it... awww.... So anyway. I LOVE that man. And then there was Emmylou Harris. SHe can rock for an old babe. I have to say that i've never been particularly...um... interested in her stuff, i know some of it, but not a lot. She had Buddy Miller on guitar and vocals as well as the rest of Spyboy. they sang 'love hurts' and it was gorgeous. She also sang the stuff i wanted to hear. ANd that was basically it. Ia(i)ns were you there? DIdn't see you? Dave and kay, i lookd for the yellow raincoat and the falcon ridge hat everywhere with no luck. I left my phone at home...oops. Dave, were you wearing a green and black raincoat and black levis?? Cause if you were then i think i saw you... but i couldn't be sur enoguh to make a fool outta myself. If only the doc had been there to take back her jacket from Emmylou. jenny* ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 Aug 2000 13:36:13 +0100 From: "jenny*" Subject: [lucy-list] Red Dirt Girl Yo again SHould've said that Emmylou played the title track from a new album coming out in september called 'Red Dirt Girl'. I really liked and the album'll be brill if the rest of the tracks are that good. jenny* ------------------------------ End of lucy-list-digest V2 #216 ******************************* This has been a posting from the Lucy Kaplansky mail list digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe lucy-list-digest" in the body of the message
