It was a great evening. Claire & I caught Karen in a twin bill with Lucy at Bodles on 07.30.99, and I was looking forward to similar vocal harmonies between Karen at Ellis. We were not disappointed. Karen opened, and played a healthy dose of her new album. She avoided taking potshots at Linda Tripp, and stuck to the music. Of all the performers I've seen over the past 2+ years. Karen is always at ease on stage. Pete Heitzman provided the fluid guitar and bass. After a short intermission, Ellis came out dressed in an outfit much too formal for Bodles.. I'm not up on his material, but he did play "The World Ain't Slowin' Down". Near the end, Karen & Pete joined him, and they covered "Dear Prudence" and "Knocking On Heaven''s Door". They also did Neil Young's "Comes A Time". Ellis didn't do much for me in the past, but I'm a fan now. Up next is Irene Kelley at Bodles on Sunday. Is anyone else going?
