I am another Lucy fan! I saw her for the first time last Sept with Cry Cry Cry and was blown away with her music. We are lucky here in the Northeast because I've had the opportunity to see her several times already. Recently saw her at Makor and would agree with Sharon about the way they handle the customers there. Lucy was awesome!!! I was at the first show and was wondering how the second show was? I also wanted to know the name of the songs she did by Townes Van Zandt and Steve Earle. I couldn't make the Falcon Rdg Festival....hopefully next year. Do you camp out there? Sounds like a great place to see live music. Thanks, Donna ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Jul 2000 20:58:51 -0400 From: "Chris Anderson" Subject: Re: [lucy-list] New to Lucy-List Wecome Donna!!! From Makor in New York City to Falcon Ridge in New York State, the past few days have been an immensely enjoyable and uplifting experience. I'll start with the Makor ... the first show passed me by pretty much ... I'm sure it was excellent, but I had too many other things going on to appreciate it. A friend I was due to meet in front of the Makor for the show didn't appear, or was there and I missed here; despite being introduced to Rick by sharon, and getting okayed to take photos, the venue told me not to; despite arriving extra early, our seating wasn't the best; and I missed someone terribly ... a Lucy show isn't a Lucy show without my girlfriend next to me. The second show was much better, personally ... we were right at the stage ... I had permission from everyone who counted to take photos (including Richard Shindell, whom I had talked to in the interval) ... and I'd resigned myself to not meeting my friend. I think the set lists have been covered elsewhere, but Lucy was surprised by my enthusiastic applause at the intro to The Swimming Song (of which more later). Onto Falcon Ridge, and I'm sure Lucy had herself cloned for the occasion ... she was everywhere! From workshops to her own mainstage set to guest appearances for the great and the good. After her Sunday morning C3 reunion workshop, I asked her if she would play The Swimming Song in her set, and she intimated that she hadn't worked out an accompaniment with her guitar player for it yet, but would see what she could do ... so imagine my surprise when she announces "this ones a request" from the mainstage and launches into that muted percussive intro! Yes, Falcon Ridge folk, that *was* me who let out that enormous yell! Afterwards she commented on how good it had worked out. Rick ... it was great to meet you, and have the opportunity to tell you my Lucy story. Thanks for getting the okay for photos. The colour ones will be on my website within the next couple days, and I'm hoping the b&w ones will be extra cool. Lucy ... thanks for everything.
