DARN.. but what i saw was unforgettable.. i will put myself on the line and report that there is no other artist that can sing harmonies better than the DOC.. she joined john gorka during his set( it was good to see him and he still looks good in his levis..) they sang songs such as cypress trees, houses in the fields milltown good noise and my favorite " i saw a stranger with your hair" i know there were more.. then jonatha brooke joined them for a sighsighsigh...song what voices? that is the moment I go to festival for to see artists like this together on one stage when i entered the field I spied the DOC and went over and she was incredible and i am thankful that she was supportive and made me a generous offer i couldnt accept..thanks lucy i appreciated it.. and then she said "HAve you seen Rick?" and i did and we talked- people were admiring "that cute guy I was talking to.." OH no there are pictures too I have learned to trust that folk fans's taste in music and it was fun to watch he and lucy watching Richard thompson play- (there are pictures you know) And when RT dropped off the WALL OF Death- the look in their faces was undescribable.. i then scooted over to the chapin mainstage and i captured photos-there were the Litvins watching from the side lines and Duke levine looked good and sounded great... I am doubel spyched to see JOHN and LUCY again on satruday in stamford.. trust me as i trusted Rick... see the summer night tour... Lucy and Gorka.( she even winged a song and was able to rock along) cliff and cheryl- WE are in for a night of harmonies and maybe there will be cheryl wheeler singing 10 year fright... as a compliment to THAT handihouse song jonatha brooke asked for REQUESTS alot and my road buddies coaxed me to shout 10 Year night - you dont have to dare me twice... jonatha was gracious and said she had to practice it.. and she loved lucy too.... she will do it for LUCY.. i hear someone ask her if she really was a DOC. as she is called the DOC of FOLK.. well see ya from stamford on saturday... congrats to RICK and LUCY for a great festival... their presence added to my day sharonG ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 Jun 2000 09:40:42 -0500 From: Timothy Bruce Subject: [lucy-list] gonna be a lurker for awhile! I say that the Doc needs to set up a time and space where we can welcome her to FAlcon ridge< I concur.....It would be a shame to have to choose between a Dar, a Lucy, or a Richard Camp. The Dar folks have great organizational skills and would likely welcome us all (and I don't suspect there will be a problem with any of us DISSING Dar!). Just one pointer: I have heard that they frequently speak in little snippets pulled from Dar's song lyrics....cliches....inside humor. If this sounds too much like Alice in Wonderland to you, you can always crawl back out of the rabbit hole and find another place to camp nearby.... I just realized that I'm about to be simultaneously buried in someone else's work load (my counterpart at work is due June 12th, then 3 months maternity leave) just as I am preparing to leave on three vacations (FRFF is the third). So I will be going into a de-facto LURK mode until just before FRFF. Not that anyone would need to get a message to li'l ole me, but e-mail will definitely NOT be the way to do it! (First up, the Badlands, Black Hills, and Devil's Tower. Second-up bringing my young family to their very first folk festival at Winnipeg.)
