The room filled early amd quickly and the night seems a bit disjointed for some reason. There were many familiar faces and regulars at the show, mike and liz, george and susan pauliny Jessica ( i forget how much i miss seeing you) and ofcourse the chapin list was there ( both of em for DUKE levine) and some new faces i spent the early part of the evening with kristina plath and her aunt and friend who i joined for dinner. i did spy Marc and Emma at the bar and stopped to chat. i didnt speak to lucy about falcon ridge and singing..because it is JUst too early. she was very excited to play with THIS band and sorry she didnt work up any steve earle but enjoys that she gets " kept company" all over the country Cheryl wheeler opened and she sang almost the Set list, i posted the other day, only shorter. YES,she sang Potato and HAndihouse WHY WHY WHY- but is worth the price of admission to hear ARROW in the middle of her set, she announced that we have it wrong we have not been seeing LUCY KAPLANSKY with rather the FOLK singer named LUCIKA PLANSKY and she hereby renamed her..we will hear that all summer, i fear. then LUCY- with ben wittman and paul on bass and DUKE LEVINE (you know him from MAry chapin's band) Lucy opened with the george jones tune He think I still care End of the Day One good reason Promise me five in the morning ten year night broken things the prequel to the angry song You're my rolemodel the second in the trilogy -Turn the lights back on Play the song for me - the movie song her new song about the Lost soul in the village- still unnamed i think and scorpion she encored with a killer version of Mary magdelene it is was a hard night, she wore black jeans and a new demin jacket from levis with inserts in teh sleeves to match THose jeans if you saw her hippy jeans.. after the show time was short, cuz the BL had a second show we did manage to get some pictures taken and some stuff signed Rick's family was in the crowd and Duke Levine's family.. people in the crowd were yellin for her announcemnts and emails "tell us about the convertible or the SUV was heard from the crowd" lucy was amazed that someone was quoting her emails...She spoke about being commissioned for song for a movie and that the writer wrote in a folk singer named Lucy Kaplansky. SHe will play herself and she said she was nervous about acting. someone called for the PI song and she said "we werent going there" the thrill of my night was chatting with Rick and DUKE levine about who got whacked on the sopranos...i'm glad they whacked richie.. hey jersey redheads where were you, i asked a few, even one that i think is on SEX in the City. and MY folkie husbands NONE of you were there.. needless to say I wasnt going to ellis alone without you... next stop Brokerage... LI the PRE FALCON RIDGE PARTY IS AT MAKOR ON JULY 20 in New York City- WElcome her home and to the FEST... sharonG ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 22 Apr 2000 11:04:06 EDT From: OzWoman321@aol.com Subject: [lucy-list] Spinning (Christopher Cross) In a message dated 4/22/00 3:19:22 AM Eastern Daylight Time, Chris Tilden writes: << Sharong and Dave and Sue can back me up on Kris. There aren't enough sunsets on the west coast of Florida to balance out the sadness I feel at knowing she'll soon be more than two hours driving distance... =*( My selections were chosen with the specific requirement that I know all the words to all the tunes - if I've chosen melancholy, I can at least sing along, right? 1) Joni Mitchell - Miles of Aisles 2) Moxy Fruvous - Live Noise 3) Mary Chapin Carpenter - Come On, Come On 4) Jules Shear - Between Us 5) Kris Delmhorst - Appetite Susan ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 22 Apr 2000 11:26:42 -0400 From: Paul Rafanello Subject: Re: [lucy-list] Lucika Plansky What a night at the Bottom Line last night. I was forced to sit in between some guy playing with his Palm Pilot all evening and his friend on the left side of the stage in front of the piano. After the show ended, I had a sore neck. The new band rocked. Duke made me forget all about John Herrington. The new songs are a treasure. "I Know What It's Like To Be Nowhere" was the highlight. Rick confirmed that the song is only a month old, and is currently untitled. "The Ballad Of Mary Magdalene" was a fine choice for the encore. But for this here country girl who had no previous knowledge of the Village or the Bottom Line... and only one previous Lucy show... it was more. You well-seasoned NYC-and-vicinity people are SO SO SO lucky... I love that city, I already knew that much, but last night (only last night???) I got to see a part I'd never seen before. I hope Lucy plays the Bottom Line next year on a night during the third week of April... I was only able to see the show because it fell during my spring break, when I usually stay with my aunt in the Bronx... it was luck. Sharon and Jess, it was awesome meeting you. Sharon, I don't hate you and I am not scarred for life about meeting internet pals face-to-face. Katrin, that scrapbook is AWESOME. Ok, next time, there has to be a Frog involved. Or else.
