It was produced by Buddy Miller with guest appearances from Buddy and Julie and Emmylou. This really is a very good album and is a welcome addition to my collection. Has anybody out there heard his previous offerings?. Comments would be gratefully accepted. Someone recommended Jeff Black a few months back, I can't remember who it was but he was another great find for me so maybe if it were you this recommendation will be a payback. I can't get enough of this great music from the US. Last month I got Buddy Millers Cruel Moon which is never off my player. Can anyone also give me review of Cliff Eberhardts CD's as he is pretty well unknown over here. On the strength of that I have bought all Cliff's cd's since that time, starting with "The Long Road". Since then there have been "Now You Are My Home", "Mona Lisa Cafe", "12 Songs Of Good & Evil" and "Borders". To me "Borders" is a little starker than the rest, "The Long Road" the most commercial, and the other three are excellent singer-songwriter fare. All are enjoyable and I suppose, as I don't have a particular favourite, they are all good without any being truly outstanding. Greg Trooper and Jeff Black are both excellent artists. Greg's "Noises In The Hallway" is well worth seeking out, different feel to "Popular Demons", but it has some truly outstanding songs. Look out for another excellent singer-songwriter, Kevin Montgomery. He is releasing his new cd "Another Long Story" here in the UK on the 3rd of April. Bob Harris has already played four tracks on his Saturday and Thursday shows on BBC Radio 2, and Daid Johanssen on Scot FM is starting to feature tracks from tonight (6 p.m.). Kevin is doing a live session on David's show on April 16th. Don't say you haven't been warned!!! Thanks for the opportunity to plug one of my favorite people in the world. KATE CAMPBELL will be at The Bottom Line, March 31st, on a double bill with the 'other Doc' DOC WATSON! Two GREAT Southerners on one great NY night. Highly recommended! With regard to meeting up , we're planning to meet at Pizza Hut, Oxford Street (about half-way between Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Circus underground stations), at 6pm. Please let me know if you're coming along, so I can tell you how to spot us! I checked in HMV on Oxford Street, and Catie will be there, playing on the lower ground floor on Friday at 1.30pm, signing copies of A Crash Course In Roses afterwards. Bizarrely, there wasn't a poster to advertise this in the main window of the store, only actually inside the store! Regards, Kay (pondering the quickest way from my office to Oxford Street!) ____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? It was recently reissued and they added two songs. For Lucy content, I just got an old Fast Folk cd that includes two Lucy numbers, one of them being Diamond In The Rough. The Smithsonian seems to be finally getting the old FF catalog onto cd. And, this is NOT a hypothetical situation. Its unfortunate that every time Richard is sched for Pittsburgh (this year May 10th) some other bigger name old folkie is here too. But thank goodness this time Richard has really been promoted on the local public radio station. We have a great morning guy from Minnesota on our public radio station now and he seems to enjoy the same kinds of musicians. I'm sure we'll go to RS. But with that said....the night before his show in Pittsburgh or the night after, he's being contracted by a friend with a bar/rest on the Ohio border. That is the magic night......one time there were about 6 fans there just for RS. After the first song the others at the bar were captive! So that totaled about 15. Its always amazing! Cheers, Sue ps We've heard that Buddy and Julie Miller are playing with/before Richard in Pittsburgh. Will let you know more as plans develop. And B&C, Sharon, c'mon out! ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Mar 2000 21:31:39 EST From: FISH1994@aol.com Subject: [lucy-list] Lucy at the Mansion WOW! Had a wonderful time at the Mansion today........not only was the crowd great, and Lucy marvelous, but as a bonus I got to meet Paul from the list........ Lucy was fabulous, if I had been thinking properly I would have written down the set list but let's just say some of my favorites were included such as Speaking with the Angel, Mary Magdalene, Guinevere, Scorpion, and Broken Things which hopefully we'll see on the next CD............I love it when she tells stories about her folks, especially "the noted mathematician" Irving Kaplansky! Anyhow I am def looking forward to the Bottom Line with Lucy and Cheryl and looking forward to meeting SharonG for sure!
