She also sang the HandiHouse Song, which I loved too!!!!!! Liz Queler was the opener, I had never heard her before, but I liked her a whole lot.............. I am gonna go see John Gorka this Thurs. evening at The Turning Point in Piermont....... Actually, this Sunday I am going to see Lucy (also at the Mansion), it's at 2 pm, and you have to bring a potluck something or other, like dessert or a main dish. It's really a nice place, maybe 60 people or so can fit there, and everyone is friendly and nice, if you want the link or directions let me know. Actually, what the heck, here is the link, you would like this place if you haven't checked it out already: Friends Of Music You have to email them or RSVP in some manner since it is a small place. Awesome old mansion, with wonderful carved wood panelling, and a gen-u-ine Tiffany window on the stair landing. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Hey Claire - who are you? I almost never see anyone I know at Mansion shows, although that should change with LK's show on 03.12) Liz and her hubby are Cliff Eberhardt's backup band. When they aren't playing with Cliff, Liz performs solo. She has two albums out, and her new one will be out soon. LK sings backup on one track called "Shakespeare Avenue". I was stunned when Liz dedicated her encore "Fairytale" to me. Liz is a real treasure, and fans of LK will find the similar emotions flowing through her music as well. Check her out when comes to your town. Paul P.S. LK's 03.12.2K show at the Mansion is sold out. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-lucy-list@smoe.org [mailto:owner-lucy-list@smoe.org]On Behalf Of FISH1994@aol.com Sent: Tuesday, March 07, 2000 11:24 AM To: lucy-list@smoe.org Subject: Re: [lucy-list] cheryl wheeler Hi Sharon, It was Cheryl who sang the Potato Song, she was appearing at the Mansion at Orange County Community College on Sunday afternoon. Sharon, while I can agree that the Lucy List hit a lull in activity = lately, your cheerleading efforts yesterday seemed a little over-the-top = top top. I must say that I personally am still reeling from the fact = that in the entirety of year 2000, there is not yet a single Lucy show = scheduled within 500 miles of me! This after seeing her five times in = three days in Winnipeg last summer! Alas, Winnipeg Folk's loss is New Bedford's (?) gain this folk season! My first Lucy show was a solo appearance at the Tree Frog Folk Festival = in my hometown of Faribault, Minnesota. It's in a small riverside park = where I used to play little league baseball back in the sixties, (I can = still feel that wool uniform itch!). I played for Nutting Truck and = Castor, a large local manufacturing firm that polluted our pristine = groundwater something fierce, then moved to South Dakota (if this was = the Dar list, that remark would be enough fodder for three days of = discussion and debate!). Anyway, some friends started this September = festival and this was year TWO....they were still seeking a dedicated = audience for it and were borrowing heavily from the popularity of a = large hot air balloon rally on the other side of town that same weekend. = I was home visiting the folks and brought my then toddler, Wolfgang = down to the park to see some talented folks. Lucy--a soloist--was up = early so we had to rush to get there. I'd heard her name several times = on our local Public Radio network which, being based in the same town as = Red House Records, gives their artists a lot of exposure. =20 My friend Roger's sound and mix was stupendous, Lucy's guitar sounded = like an orchestra, her voice like an angel. She had curly, raven black = hair like my girlfriend. I was hooked. We played kickball on the grass = right in front of Lucy on stage. When she mentioned the Dar Dar Dar = project she (and Richard) were working on, I jumped on the bandwagon. = Richard was the last in the trilogy for me to discover, but he's the = next one on the gig list. I'll see him in a small room a couple miles = from here in May. It will sell out soon so e-mail me if you find = yourself ticketless. I'll try and warm him up to the "Camp Camp Camp" = idea for FRFF if we get a chance to talk after the show. I certainly = hope all three get a chance to come up and say "Hi!".
