An understandably excited Martha Trachtenberg was on the other end of my phone line yesterday to tell me that she has been asked to open for Lucy at The Brokerage in Bellmore, NY on Wednesday, June 14th, 8:30 PM. This just after getting booked into The Bluebird Cafe in Austin in April and the Sun Cafe in New York later this month. The woman's on the move! And it couldn't happen to a nicer gal. For those in the dark about The Brokerage, it is a pretty cool place, kind of a mini Bottom Line--similar fried junk food, very casual ambiance, lots of good beer and great acoustics. And you can see well from anywhere in the room. I'd say about a half hour from NYC by car or train. Martha and Lucy...Highly Recommended! While I've got you here, I just found out about an incredible folk festival to happen in early July on the waterfront in historic New Bedford, MASS called The New Bedford Summerfest. Lucy will be there, along with Kelly Joe Phelps, Cheryl Wheeler, Anne Hills, Eddie From Ohio, Jack Hardy, James Keelaghan, Garnet Rogers, Compass Rose and a bunch more. And if I read it right, it's only $4 $4!!!!!! Am I dreaming? Here's the URL or whatever to find out more: www.ultranet.com/~koro/summfest.htm ThoughfulRon ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Mar 2000 11:27:22 -0600 From: Timothy Bruce Subject: [lucy-list] RE: on the dar-list yesterday A little bird suggested on the Dar list Wednesday that the fine folks at = the so called "Dar Camp" at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival welcome the = camping presence of those new faces present due to the scheduled = appearance of both Lucy (all three days!) and Richard S. Though they = are too much united by bonds of fellowship and tradition to consider = changing their name to "Camp Camp Camp" just yet, they feel that we must = be good folks, too, because of our impeccable taste in music. So if = your summer includes a trip to that magical musical farm in outstate New = York (no not THAT one!), you might consider touching bases with these = folks. I have... They have their own Camp Dar website! http://mit.edu/skkelly/www/. = Although it is admittedly difficult to plan an exact location before all = the advance people on the site have finished setting-up shop, it is = heartening to see all of the enthusiasm already building for their = annual summer journey to "Brigadoon", the magical, mythical village that = appears out of the mist, then slips back into the mist without a trace = until next time. =20 Thanks, Sharon, for all yer help....Thweet! I *am* (oh, for some italics!) opening up for Lucy at the Brokerage in Bellmore, NY, in June, and Ron's been kind enough to invite me to do a house concert at his place in May. So (big grin) what, if anything, do you want to know about me? cheers, Martha At 06:02 PM 03/02/2000 EST, you wrote: >Ron, thanks for the tip in regard to Martha coming to Austin don't know >anything about her but, I'll go on your recommendation. >jimmy > ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 3 Mar 2000 00:03:31 -0000 From: "David McKay" Subject: [lucy-list] TX, or not TX, that is the question ... > I think I'm the Martha you're referring to, and much as I'd like to do it > someday, I'm not heading out to Austin anytime soon. Are you sure? Ron D reckons you're playing the Bluebird Cafe in Austin, and he's usually pretty accurate. :-) Dave. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 2 Mar 2000 19:48:30 EST From: MickRib@aol.com Subject: Re: [lucy-list] He thinks I still care as lucy sang it.. james taylor does it too. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 2 Mar 2000 22:39:09 EST From: Shadyt2911@aol.com Subject: Re: [lucy-list] Let's Celebrate Martha, I take Ron's word that you're a great artist, how about CD availability? jimmy ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 02 Mar 2000 23:09:38 -0500 From: "Martha P. I was a trifle excited when I gave him the news (ah, now there's an understatement) and may not have said Nashville. You can get it online from two sources -- cyber-songs.com or cdbaby.com/martha. Cdbaby has four of the songs available for listening, so you're not getting the proverbial pig in a poke . . . Or you can get it from me; send a check for $15 to Martha Trachtenberg, PO Box 224, Huntington, NY 11731. What else. Yes. I have some good guests playing with me -- Eddie Gomez, Michael Johnson, Marty Stuart, and Tony Trischka. It pays to have been around a while. Hope this finds you well, wherever it finds you, cheers, Martha ------------------------------ End of lucy-list-digest V2 #55 ****************************** This has been a posting from the Lucy Kaplansky mail list digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe lucy-list-digest" in the body of the message
