I have not seen Sky around though. I still play "Only Love Can Endure." When did you see him. Listening to Rush these days is great. He still sounds like he did in the 60's. Susan: I looked for someone with a Nanci-Net button at the Werner concert, but no luck. What did you think of it? How did you like Austin, the opener? Wasn't too impressed with the guitar work myself. Anyway, Susan was good. This was my first time seeing her. Too bad the Lucy K list poster couldn't see the poignancy through the humor. SharonG: I good make over of this campus would be a good thing, although you would find that the folks here are creative, non traditional, and very individual. It is a wonderful place to work and a wonderful place for students to learn and explore new ideas. I teach here too, in the English department, so I get to work with the students in the classroom and serve as the senior academic person too. What a great world! We might get a good Lucy concert going here soon. I see now, too, that she and Richard will be at Lime Kiln, just up the road. I am still glad I drove up to DC to see her. So come on down fro that if we do not get her here sooner! Hi Tricia - I forgot the button (wound up staying with a friend Thursday night instead of going home)....I sat way in the back with the two women and their 3 month old baby. I liked Susan a lot. Much different from the Piermont NY show - she did a bunch of new songs there that she didn't do here (since they were all love songs maybe she's out-of-love). I agree about the poignancy through the humor. The couple behind me left after "Sorry About Jesus" - I guess they didn't get it. Austin had a great voice but the guitar work was boring. Susan (hoping Lucy gets to Berkeley again soon as I missed her fall shows when I had to be back east) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 Feb 2000 13:47:41 EST From: Tricia9999@aol.com Subject: Re: [lucy-list] Susan Werner. Way to go Ron. Having Martha as your featured house concert performer is a gift to all who attend. What a great way to share someone as wonderful as Martha Trachtenberg and her terrific husband, Tom Griffith (an amazing musician with a beautiful voice). And yes, Martha opened for Lucy at the George Street Playhouse Summer Music Series a couple of summers ago, and the audience LOVED her. Before I see Martha at your house concert, I am seeing her in NYC at the Sun Music Cafe, 340 E. 71 St., on March 11. The show starts at 8PM and there's a $10 cover. Note: the Cafe is actually the front room of a Russian Orthodox Church, so look for a small, hanging sign by the door, rather than a club. They're splitting the night with an English songwriter, Terence Martin, who's supposed to be quite good. Their number is 212 396-9521. For those of you in Nashville, check out the Bluebird Cafe on April 26th (Check to be sure) -- Martha is the featured performer!! Ron, you are oh so right -- "If you like Lucy...you'll love..." Martha! And you really will. I have two questions tangentially related to Ms. Lucy (aka, 6 degrees of separation from Lucy, 'tho these 2 are pretty directly related ;D) 1) Any news if/when Richard Shindell will be on CBS Sat Morning?? He was bumped (again?) today and his website lists no update on the matter. 2) I saw Maura O'Connell last night in Chicago (yeah, Old Town School!) which brought to mind Paul Brady. CDNow lists only one recording for him. Is this accurate? Any recommendations as to where else one might go? Thanks! ~Kelli ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 Feb 2000 10:16:04 +1100 From: owner-lucy-list@smoe.org Subject: [lucy-list] kristina olsen Untill Lucy comes to Australia I cannot contribute tour information, = reviews, or even cooking tips. Oh Wayne You make a former Baltimoron homesick..although, (she lookes down trying to hide her chuckle)I was a baby in the 60s! Well, not really but, I sure miss Max's on Broadway! DO not miss Lucy/Richard on June 24th in Baltimore. The sound in that church is wonderful. The pews are not comfortable! Your heart and your ears will love it! Lucy and RIchard are magical.
