His voice was sooo powerful. I'm sure we'll go to more shows but, I'm looking forward to Lucy and Richard in Baltimore in June. Those two in that wonderful sounding church near Hopkins.....ahhhh. Wow!! Nanci G does that song! ON her OVtoo album, it does go towards the sing-song but i have a really ancient bootleg where she does it really, really slow. I'd love to hear the doc do that one. You sound like you had a great night. SO we were talking about songs for lucy to cover...Oooo...i have to agree anything by catie curtis. I just love her stuff...lucy could do 'world don't owe me', someone else suggested that, was it you katrin?? Or was it witchy?? And she can cover big Steve E anytime she likes...that's jsut fine by me.. What about the other way around?? I can so totally hear paul brady doing *if you could see*, i was footering around with it during christmas and after i put down the guitar to go and make some coffee or something i was sort of humming the tune and then i heard it in my head, but it wasn't lucy singing, it was mr brady...And it's killign me...do you think i could get him to sing it...I jsut have to hear it...What about the rest of you?? What lucyricky creations should be covered by who. But not the end of the day, because that's the hit song. Sharon ar eyou really gonna sing Ten Year Night if the doc doesn't? Hm, I can really see Lucy cover several MCC songs. But I'm no MCC purist I guess. However, on a random note, one of the few times where I like the original of a song better than the version Joan Baez does, is indeed MCC's Stones in the Road. > you can ride with me to newport but you have to stay awake this time > its more like Open Your eyes talk to me...pass the pretzels and > turn on that boombox- grab that cassette of jimmie rogers... can I just publicly come to my own defence and say that I'm a much better road buddy and usually stay awake in the car when I don't have the flu and run no temperature? I promise to be better next time. And that boombox was playing all the way back from Boston if I remember right! :-) > i also disagree > about vance gilbert too- he would be hard for anyone- she could only do > harmony - I don't think so. Get out "edgewise" and listen to "witness to joy", I don't like the vocal arrangements of that song that much but Patti of Tuck and Patti fame definitely sings more than harmony on that song with Vance and I'm sure Lucy could, too. jenny said: > SO we were talking about songs for lucy to cover...Oooo...i have to agree > anything by catie curtis. I was really impressed, particularly as I wasn't previously familiar with his own material and only bought the ticket initially in the hope that Julie Miller might also be there (she wasn't). Anyway, also The Arlenes were there as opening act (in full band form - as a trio they opened for Lucy in London last December). The show was taped (both The Arlenes and Buddy Miller), and Bob Harris announced that it would be broadcast on his country show some time in the next 4-6 weeks, so listen out for it on Thursday nights on Radio 2 !
