Greetings LKians, I am hoping to see postings from the Bill, Carol, Tom, Sue contingent whom I know helped light up the room for Lucy on Thursday night. This is the first show at the Rosebud that Lucy has played in two years that I haven't managed to attend. I gave Bill (and Carol) a warm-send off, but I think, Sue it was too late about the umbrella business... Thanks, everyone, for keeping the list so lively and fun. I am seeing Tish Hinojosa tonight, and a wonderful artist named Anne Heaton next week. Thanks too for all the great leads on new (and not-so-new) folks to tune into. Radio in this town (Chicago) for Americana, roots, & folk music really bites, so I rely on the ears of our list participants... kind regards, Bill ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Feb 2000 14:57:41 EST From: Witchaywm@aol.com Subject: [lucy-list] Rosebud review We just got back from the airport and the first thing I did was check my messages...sharonG's request for a Rosebud review was there waiting for me. Keeping Lucy-listers informed is a priority! First, the set list: The Kid Five in the Morning Don't Mind Me (new song...not sure if this is really the title) Broken Things Ten Year Night No More Excuses Nowhere (another new song) Swimming For Once in Your Life End of the Day Turn the Lights Back On Scorpion encore: Guinevere Lucy was in the back of the room during Willie Porter's wonderful opening set. Various members of our table (which included the gracious Pittsburghian ambassadors Sue and Tom) went to greet her, say hello, give her brownies and chocolates as early birthday presents, and to have her sign SharonG's pity card. She was very warm and personable, and genuinely enjoyed chatting with her fans. She was dumbfounded to hear that Bill and I came from Chicago just to see her. When she got on stage, she was casual, almost lackadaisical about what she was going to play. She confessed to being "very mellow" that night. She was radiant, and looked very cool in a denim jacket trimmed with psychedelic fake fur. Lucy treated us to a couple of new songs; she said she would sing them as far as she had gotten...they were not finished yet. She hoped they "didn't suck". They didn't, of course. We even forgave her the pause in the middle of the first one, as she strummed her guitar waiting for the rest of the lyrics to come to her. The group in Rosebud was smallish, but very appreciative. They were there to hear music, not converse or drink. Lucy, ever the gracious hostess, complimented Willie Porter profusely on his amazing opening. After the show, she made herself available to visit with fans, and encouraged those who appeared reluctant or shy to come over and talk with her. She is worthy of all the praise and success she receives, as she is a captivating performer as well as a genuinely good human being. Lastly, our thanks go out to Sue and Tom...thank you for going out of your way to help us out in several instances. It was wonderful to meet you in person. - --carol (of bill and carol) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Feb 2000 20:09:32 +0000 (GMT) From: =?iso-8859-1?q?kay=20melmoth?= Subject: [lucy-list] Buddy Miller in London >According to 'Hot Tickets' Buddy Miller is playing >The Borderline on >Monday >14th, 8pm, £8. She finally said she thought it was "Fix Your Blues", but she didn't seem sure. Does that sound right to you? - --carol ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Feb 2000 17:33:44 EST From: Scharri@aol.com Subject: [lucy-list] Re: lucy-list-digest V2 #35 Well, Sharon's treat was delivered to the fine Dr last night. It was also a very nice treat to meet Bill and Carole. However, it was a PITY that Sharon wasn't with us. We had a few people there that missed her. Lucy was surprised and excited to receive her "package". I'll leave the honors of the show review to Bill and Carole. I discovered Powers on my trip to Ireland a couple years back. I don't know if all the native Irish drink it but I find it much smoother than Jameson's, Bushmills, or Blackbush. When Graham and I buy whiskey, we go for Powers, which is available in the States if you look around a bit. Can't believe Lucy, Paul Brady, Katrin and I have the same finicky taste in whiskey!
