Karen can do things with her voice, like singing harmony with herself (really, two notes at once) that I've never heard anyone else do. Guitarist Pete Heitzman is an incredible player, doing many of the songs on a six string bass, playing leads. They are also very nice folks. I run three lists for KS, alcove list which is your usual discussion list, alcove-list-digest, and alcove-news which is a periodic announcement list. All can be accessed through their homepage http://karensavoca.com Pete H, by the way, designed and maintains the homepage himself. She is awesome! We all went down to Appel Farm in Elmer, NJ that year and saw her again. I'd definitely want to go see her again, soon. She is awesome! >> It is interesting that so many of the famous listers have enjoyed Karen Savoca and Pete H. She's not as famous a Lucy but her talent will take her in that direction, I'm sure. I'm convinced ,that in addition to Lucy's talent, that her hard work with her fans has been a catalyst for her popularity. I think KS could learn something from her...at our concert she didn't come out after the concert to sign autographs or cds or visit. I know this sounds a bit whiny but I guess we've been spoiled because so many of the folk artists do this. It really is a treat and bonds you to them in some way. wbe ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 07 Feb 2000 18:25:37 -0500 From: "Martha P. Don't want to make excuses, but most of us play because we WANT to reach people, so I'm wondering if there's some less-than-obvious reason for Karen to retreat from an enthusiastic audience. After all the chat about her on the list, I think I'll have to give the lady a listen. Thanks, Listers, for the tip. cheers, Martha T. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 7 Feb 2000 21:07:59 EST From: FISH1994@aol.com Subject: Re: [lucy-list] Re: lucy-list-digest V2 #31 When I saw Karen and Pete (they were the openers for Lucy), Lucy stated that she was fond of them because they are in the music because they love it, and that was something we could all observe first hand, they put on quite a joyous show.......so nice to see folks who don't mind sharing their talents, and who aren't in it "for big bucks" or "fame" or whatever........... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 07 Feb 2000 19:38:00 PST From: "sharon g" Subject: [lucy-list] one heck of a party the reviews of lexington are fillin up my mailbox- its gonna take a 10 year night to get thru em drats and i wasnt there- you all are makin me green like the frog and she wasnt there either congrats to my pals and to lucy for a great show while in stamford sunday i got a third row seat to Lucy and John Gorka- june 10th is right upon us and them tickets are selling like hot cakes...a new venue a new partner... a new lucy show..join me in stamford i found the greatest wedges there...(heros, subs, hoagies) post those show results please.. sharonG maybe marblehead.... ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ End of lucy-list-digest V2 #32 ****************************** This has been a posting from the Lucy Kaplansky mail list digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe lucy-list-digest" in the body of the message
