If I recall the story correctly, Lucy and Gwen were friends growing up in Chicago (or something like that). In any event, they had lost contact with one another for a number of years until Lucy appeared on NPR and Gwen heard her and called in to say hi to her old friend. In any event, Lipshtick has this essay about Lucy and recounts the story of how Gwen "found" her after 22 years. I am told that the essay and the book are both terrific. Sounds like it's worth checking out.
