Kerry from Young Hunter who is on the Lucy list sent me your e-mail. I manage the Nields and was unaware of the "drink minimum." I do not allow shows to be booked that do this. It is not in my contract. I have spoken to the venue and there will be NO drink minimum at the Nields show!!!! I did not even have to threaten them (which I planned on doing). Enjoy the show, Patty Romanoff Bulletproof Artist Mgmt ======================= =================================================== Kerry Bernard kerry@younghunter.com Young/Hunter Management 781.643.2773 ph Arlington, MA 781.643.0416 fax =================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 07 Jan 2000 10:14:33 -0500 From: Kerry Bernard Subject: [lucy-list] Makor (again) And Patty also asked that I post this: =============== Dear Lucy Fans: I am the Nields manager and was distressed to hear about some problems in a new venue. I want to explain how to make changes at venue you did not like. TELL THEM! Do not just boycott a new venue because you have a complaint about something that happened or the clubs policies. This changes nothing. Maybe, the club goes out of business and all the artists you love have one less place to play, so who gets hurt. You and the artist! Makor is a brand new club. When I heard about the drink min., I called the club. I have addressed the drink minimum with them and they immediately saw the problem and have lifted the rule for the Nields show (maybe forever, not sure). I found them receptive to input and very pleasant to deal with. They need your input in order to improve. I saw a similar thing happen in Philadelphia after a bad experience that a few Moxy Fruvous fans had at a venue that was used to doing punk and rock music. They called an immediate boycott of the venue the week before the Nields were to perform there. The only people that got hurt were the fans that stayed home and missed a show and The Nields who did not make new fans, sell CDs or make the money they depend on to make a living. The venue went back to doing punk and rock and folk musicians have one less place to play. Please make changes in the world through voicing your opinion to the people that can make these changes not ignoring the problems! Thanks, Patty Romanoff Bulletproof Artist Management =================================================== Kerry Bernard kerry@younghunter.com Young/Hunter Management 781.643.2773 ph Arlington, MA 781.643.0416 fax =================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 Jan 2000 09:09:18 +1100 From: "Michael Beaumont" Subject: Re: [lucy-list] Makor (again) Well done Patty!!!! Boycotting is the lazy persons way of doing things.Sure its less confrontational but it really changes nothing. Club/bar/cafe owners can never change the things that are wrong with their business if they are forced to work in a vacuum. They could be thinking its the way they make their burgers. tell them. Not just your venues but everyone, radio stations, record companies, promoters etc etc etc....
