For those who dislike the fact that we are celebrating the Millennium a = year "early," I can only say that the dates are way off anyway. The = Roman monk Dionysius Exiguus, in researching the correct date for = Easter, started dating our current calendar at 1 A.D. based on Christ's = birth. Various calculations involving the time of King Herod show that = Christ was actually born 4 to 7 years earlier than thought. At the very = least, the "REAL" millennium should have been celebrated in 1996 or = 1997, so I'm going to look at this as a "belated" millennium = celebration. :-) OR, since the calendar WAS started at 1 A.D., just go = ahead and celebrate again with those of you who don't want to celebrate = the new Millennium for 2000, waiting instead until 2001. All in all, = whatever YOUR thoughts on this, a new year is a time of renewed hope, = and so let's celebrate THAT at least! :-) Wishing you a happy and prosperous year. Today is the 1,999th anniversary of that date. There is a real millennium coming, next January 1.
