Re: [lucy-list] Fare Thee Well, Rankins ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 3 Dec 1999 08:47:18 -0600 From: Timothy Bruce Subject: [lucy-list] The end of the road... I guess we're the end of the road, then! The Mable Tainter Memorial Theatre in Menomenie, Wisconsin on Saturday night appears to be the last show in the US before Lucy's well-earned (working) vacation. I am herding a group of 8 to 10 people down the road to this magnificent restored Victorian in Western Wisconsin. Any others from the list feel welcome to hook up with Lisa and me and company. We'll be leaving Minneapolis about 3-4:00 PM and arriving at our Host and Hostess' place in Menomenie about 6:00 to hang out, eat, maybe drum a little before the show. Call the TWISTED GROOVE at 612-721-3524 before 3:00 and ask for Scott or Timothy. The world's first Lucy Kaplansky T-shirts have been modified! Formerly, they were plain white, with a cherry red heart and "I Love Lucy" on the front and "KAPLANSKY" on the back--a rush job in time for Winnipeg! The TWISTED GROOVE (a batik and dye studio and store) has modified them to fit in better in a Grateful Dead-style setting by tying and dying them in matching blue, aquamarine, and purple. Better wear your shades! To keep up with the tradition of my Danish relatives from Western Wisconsin, the baked goods for the evening will be Danish Kringle (a twisted pastry stuffed with almond paste). Hopefully the split will do them good ... are they now pursuing separate music careers? Harvey discovered: > July 22 at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. Now that is very cool. Yeah! I mean, I was going *anyway*, but this is just great! :-) Dave. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 3 Dec 1999 20:35:00 -0000 From: "IAN BUCHAN" Subject: Re: [lucy-list] Fare Thee Well, Rankins It would appear that Heather is aspiring to be an actress, Raylene has taken on the ro;le of motherhood and Cookie is to continue singing in whatever capacity she feels like. As for the boys John Morris and Jimmy well it seems they are already or have already laid down tracks for solo albums. At present the girls are doing a few Christmas gigs complete with orchestra and have laid down some tracks with Carly Simon. Try to get hold of the Christmas album Do you hear which the girls released last year it is fantastic. I don't agree with your comments about Uprooted and Endless Seasons as I think they had to progress to gain a wider audience. I'm biased anyway so what do I know. Here are some sites well worth trying http://www.therankins.com http://members.home.net/kimberleyw/rankins/ Nice to hear from people with good taste Only 9 days until I see Lucy in Glasgow I CAN'T WAIT.
