It was part of a series of house concerts held at this place; this was the 30th one, over a course of a few years. Sadly, the house is being sold, so it may have been the last one there. I heard about it on the Musi-Cal website, and bought tickets at a time when I thought that I'd already have moved up there from Los Angeles. Unfortunately, our house isn't finished, so I had to drive up from LA to Sonoma (about a 7 hour drive) to check out the house's progress, do some other errands, and see the concert. By the way, if anyone wants to see what the room looks like, check out http://www.monitor.net/roots/house_concerts.html and SpecGlobal@aol.com wrote: > The new song was probably No More Excuses, which along with Turn the Lights > Back On, makes up 2/3 of The Angry Trilogy.... Ah! Indeed it was No More Excuses; thanks for jogging my memory. And The Thief could be the third (though I'd have to say that it's easily the weakest of the three). ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Nov 1999 07:42:35 EST From: Sdgold60@aol.com Subject: [lucy-list] WFUV sounds like NY wants to be southern california drat that lousy eye hand coordination- i knew the answer was the thief couldnt get to teh Buzzer fast enough Fuv sponsored Alison Kraus last night at Town Hall (did you expect PLJ-the classic rock station) and John Platt inintroduced her and the fact that FuV was playing the listeners top 100 albums of the century starting next week could she? would she? will she? for those of you in Fuv range- listen i will be driving around the Mnahattan, queens and the Bronx like Charlie on the MTA trying to get "my share of FUV" so if you see that green toyota with the dar stickers -please had me a sandwich, some diet pepsi- make a chocholate chip cookie as i drive thru your neighborhood... i just live tooo far into brooklyn- meg, rita john do you hear me? bring FUV to all 5 boroughs please..... sharonG ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Nov 1999 09:06:09 -0700 From: rts@CS.Arizona.EDU (Richard Snodgrass) Subject: [lucy-list] Guitars > Lucy managed to break two strings, which earned her the nickname of "The > Thrasher" from Nina. Kind of hard to describe. >>By the way, how did it happen that she performed at a home (assuming I am understanding correctly)<< Lucy and Robin are friends for one thing. Also, Lucy has played up there before a couple of years ago, visited the station, knows the promoter, etc. It was in a home, which always amazes me after they take down the chairs and put the furniture back in place, that Lucy Kaplansky was playing in someone I know's living room! >>and how did one get invited or find out about this special get together?<< They sent out flyers to all the regular house concert attenders, plus is was announced frequently on KRCB radio (91.1 and 90.9 in Sonoma County). Or you just had to "know people" (I can attest to all 3 :) It was such a great show and maybe the last concert at the house. Hopefully not! But I'll bet Lucy comes back to Sonoma County on her next stop through CA! (cross your fingers for us NorCAL people) take care, katie stohlmann http://userwww.sfsu.edu/~stohlman/ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Nov 1999 18:39:24 -0000 From: "IAN BUCHAN" Subject: Re: [lucy-list] Glasgow UK Gig and T-Shirts YAHOODOTCOM My tickets have arrived for Glasgow. No's 18, 19 and 20. There must be someone up there after all. Ian - -----Original Message----- From: jeremy.briggs@gecm.com To: lucy-list@smoe.org Date: 16 November 1999 11:11 Subject: [lucy-list] Glasgow UK Gig and T-Shirts As Jenny said the tickets for the Glasgow Tron gig are £9.50 plus 50p for the pleasure of booking them, so a tenner each (plus the cost of the baked goods!). Jenny got tickets 11 and 12, I got 15, 16 and 17 so I wonder who out there has 13 and 14? That is 5 listers or nearlisters so far, I wonder how many more we can get? The gig starts at 9:00pm which is pretty late and I assume that there is no warm up act. Does anyone know what the Tron is like since the tickets describe it as a restauant/bar rather than a theatre? Bill R tells us that "the t-shirts that Lucy's been selling at her gigs are now available online". Will these be available at the UK/Eire gigs or do we have to surf to get them?
