Well, next time we'll be a little more on the ball...and just tell whoever that we're doing this because it's a NY tradition and we're sorry that we don't have any of the Junior's cheesecake but, oh well.... Everybody have a great day. wbe ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Oct 1999 07:55:05 EDT From: Wblr4@aol.com Subject: Re: [lucy-list] lucy in IL & baked goods And yes, she did play Ten Year Night...and my question is...when people list the songs she sang in her set...like has been done several times..which I like...how do you do it...I was going to do that but got caught up in the music and blew it...do you take a pencil and paper or do you just remember? Or is here a hidden tape recorder? It's funny because if I've seen some sort of game (let's say basketball), I can almost tell you a play by play of what happened when...that's not unusual...but for some reason I'm sure I couldn't do a set list. wbe ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Oct 1999 08:06:21 EDT From: Wblr4@aol.com Subject: [lucy-list] Fight Club A little off the beaten path but Carol and I saw "Fight Club" last nite....if anyone else has seen this I would be very interested to know your reaction and view. If this film has any chance of popular acceptance I'd be astonished. The amazing thing is that three reviews we read had given it 4*, 3 1/2* and 2 1/2*....This is so far from being a "chick flick" that I'd be surprised if many wouldn't literally get up and leave...it was in some ways like a stupid sixth sense...we stayed til the bitter end because I think we both thought there was going to be a good point that was going to be made...and how many times have you started a discussion about a movie and somebody has said "oh, we just got up and left"...I have always found that to be pretty narrow....but if someone admits to getting up and leaving in this one they have my respect for good judgement. This get's an Ebert thumbs down from me. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Oct 1999 09:05:09 EDT From: RockinRonD@aol.com Subject: [lucy-list] One More Word on Louise Taylor Given the unabashed gushing I did recently on this list about Louise Taylor, in hindsight I think it only fair to point out that my discovery of Ms. Taylor came in the form of a wonderful cassette made for me by the fabulous Susan Moss (Ozwoman321). One of the highlights of that tape was a song called "Blue Northern" sung by Louise, which is from her "Ride" CD. Susan agreed that it was a mindblower but told me I really hadn't heard anything until I hear "Maria" from the same CD, which prompted me to order the record from CDNow immediately. The rest, to employ a cliche, is history. I would urge anyone on this, the Richard or Dar List to discover Louise Taylor for themselves. My God, you won't be sorry. Just ask Susan "Ozzie" Moss, who probably knows more obsure singer/songwriters than the three Rons combined. Its really bad when the crowd sends someone over their heads from the pit. But everyone REALLY gets carried away when he does Home Team. Those silly Oriole fans.....:) Looking forward to Lucy on the 26th. Yeah, I got the following email from the Indianapolis promoter on Tuesday stating that the show had been cancelled. Unfortunately, I wasn't monitoring my lucy-list posts, or else I would have forwarded this before (instead of after) the fact! One of my daughter's choir directors forbade singers to have chocolate before a show and she still follows that rule. Can any singers on the list confirm this? I wonder why it was cancelled...I had read your lucy list posting of that concert and as we had seen the two of them on Sat. nite something he said rang a bell...Richard mentioned during the concert that this was his first teaming with Lynn and they were supposed to play 4 concerts together but one of them got cancelled and you could tell it had been frustrating as to how it had all come about and he wasn't too happy. So maybe that was the concert he was talking about. I almost called my brother in Indianapolis and told him to catch the show but somehow time got away from me and I didn't. I would have been a total crazy person if I had driven that long only to find out that there wasn't a concert. The details as to the why would be interesting to know. wbe ------------------------------ End of lucy-list-digest V1 #206 ******************************* This has been a posting from the Lucy Kaplansky mail list digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe lucy-list-digest" in the body of the message
