When you get transferred.....nevermind. Its not the mecca that Naperville, Il is but, there is 0 crime and we even have good shows. We have been to Rosebud many times. Its in what is called the "Strip" District. Lots of resturants and bars and markets. Its a nice place to hear shows but...don't expect the crowd to be silent. If that bugs you, Don't fly in just for the show. Lucy (on this night) is playing for what is called "Girls Night Out". There are lots of things going on other than music. I'd check Musi-cal, I'll bet she's playing closer to you on the 23rd...Cleveland And, she is playing in Chicago on the 15th. Heavens, why would someone come to Pittsburgh if they didn't have to? :) But then, Lucy's playing here so I guess something must go on here sometime! Right outside of the Pit. There is a little club on the Ohio border that Lucy and Richard have played on many occassions. The last time.....the crowd was 8 strong! Last month, Stacy Earle and David Massengill played to 12! For a free show.....it was great! Cheers, Sue\ PS I hope you didn't buy nonrefundable tickets for the 12th. Musi-cal says she's playing the Pit on the 26th! So does Rosebud! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Sep 1999 14:24:09 -0500 From: Bill Karnoscak Subject: [lucy-list] Rosebud in Pittsburgh Greetings, I am flying (FROM CHICAGO!!) to Pittsburgh to see LucyK at the Rosebud. I am alarmed, however, to see the dates you mention. I believe she'll be at the Rosebud on Tuesday 26 October. Please confirm. The dates from Mus-i-Cal mention 10.26 for her Rosebud date. Re: Rosebud, it's a great place to hear music. I drove from Chicago to Pittsburgh to see EmmyLou Harris there in August 1997 (and it was worth it in every way). If you're familiar with Chicago venues, it's something like the Double Door (although they mostly have seating). It has a full kitchen as well. The bar is NOT separate from the music room, which can be a noise factor. And the side of the music room faces the street, and there are three or so garage doors, which are often open to the street (although in late October, this might not be a factor), which can contribute to noise levels. But on the whole, it's a great place to experience music... I've seen Jennifer Kimball and Patty Larkin there as well. First of all, I am coming to Pittsburg on the 12th...but to see Dee Carstensen which was our intention. I like Lucy so much that I got her Oct 26th date confused with what we were doing (scary, huh?). It will be our first trip to Pittsburg and we are looking forward to it as an adventure...getting in at about noon and having dinner at one of the recommended good restaurants before the show and then staying over and flying back the next day. We are really looking forward to our visit......and it was Walter who asked me why I would go to Pittsburg.....we are looking forward to our trip. Thanks for all the info...by the way..we're seeing Lucy on the 15th..got second row tickets to one side..so that should be a blast...she's from the Chgo area I'm sure you know...we saw her at Ravinia along with Dar and John Gorka...I know Dar is popular but there was no comparison as far as we were concerned...it was our first time to hear Lucy and it was a shock at the excellence of her music and performance...we had bought Ten Year Night so we were already a little predisposed that she would be good but she exceeded our expectation dramatically. We also like Jann Arden alot as well as Nanci Griffith. Anyway....I'll give you a report after our trip about how we like Pittsburg...I'm sure it will be great.
