YES...Lucy and Darryl sing a duet called "Ring on my Hand" on Darryl's new cd. Go to Darryl's website (http://www.songs.com/dp) to hear it. It's a wonderful song! "...was i just off somewhere? or maybe just too high? cuz i can't remember, if we said goodbye." What an incredible love song on a wonderful (and mostly acoustic) obscure album! It's been great late night road music this summer. The universe had tried to get me and Steve Earle's music together for a long time (I bought that cassette in its original shrink wrap for 99 cents at a second-hand store while camping in rural Minnesota while looking desperately for a can-opener. I found the can-opener, but didn't listen to the tape for weeks. A week later I found a "comp" ticket on the sidewalk in Minneapolis for a show on a night I couldn't attend.) The craftsmanship in each song is astounding... From the same song (HELP! it's from memory) "I think about you / every now and then Like a warm breeze blowing / up / from the Car-rib-be-an (NOTE: last month at Winnipeg, playing solo, he did this song. I now see the reason why Lucy's 'can't-get-it-out-of-her-head' album during those CRY CRY CRY tour bus days was one of Steve's.) Final note: I just got six tickets in the mail for row-four-center at a cozy community theatre in Menomonie, WI. The show is on the first night of HANUKKAH, Sat. Dec. 4. I've always believed that this was the Jewish holiday most equated with Christmas. Who would want to be playing that night? This leads, of course, to the question my (Jewish) girlfriend brings up from time to time...."Is she or isn't she?" (lots of Pollacks in Chicago, ya know...Not so many named Irving, though.) No great big deal, but if so, I'll bring my tops and chocolate coins! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 04 Aug 1999 14:08:53 PDT From: "sharon g" Subject: [lucy-list] cover 'em up the three song set of covers is generally the FUV thing not that i know cuz i get no reception in my house- i have to drive to brooklyn heights to hear meg or rita the mary chapin cover was three tunes- one mary black doing the moon & st christopher- get the point- who has covered lucy kaplansky? you're asking me who has sung 10 year night? even loretta lynn tried to sing it natalie merchant sang it, kellie willis twice- eddie from ohio did it as a round the summers round of cliff, cheryl wheeler, gorks, larkin christine lavin, susan werner-the BSO played it ray charles, june carter cash- the hills of hillsdale sang it they sang it at the red sox game, rangers game and super bowl- in the macy parade - there was a 10 year ballon i swear i heard rudolph guilani singing to george bush jr but ellis paul wouldnt sing it- he called vance a slut- i'm gonna ask steve earle to sing it. sharon next time i see ya ronno -i'll give ya an advil _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web.
