I was not serious, just being funny, even though her posts have, on occasion, given me a headache. But that's okay, even the Nields sometimes give me a headache. I adore sharon, she is one of the truly remarkable people I have met through these sundry and assorted lists, and I would never do anything to purposely hurt her in any way. She knows how I feel about her. I just wanted to be sure everyone else here doesn't get the wrong idea. I hate hatchets. And violence of any kind, for that matter. Gulp! Sure, NOW you tell us. Well, if you receive a poorly wrapped package, addressed in crayon, with, maybe, a wire or two sticking out of it or some oily spots on it, er, well, RUN LIKE HELL! It does not mean that the segment it two hours long, just that it will fall somewhere between those two hours. It's usually a three song set and most times it's three different artists covering the songs of another artist. Sometimes they reverse it, and play songs by one artist covering three other artists. The reversal never makes sense to me, since there are so many artists out there that mainly do covers. This morning, for example, their Under The Covers set was Joan baez. I tuned in during the last song, Joan doing "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down". I don't remember what other songs they played. I didn't think it was anything special to listen to, since Joan mostly does covers (very well, I might add!). I have a feeling that Lucy's set will be like this. They'll play three of the songs that she has covered so well, *not* her own songs as interpreted by others. I like the Under The Covers feature but only when they play three different artists covering one person. As Liz correctly noted, it is a segment which airs sometime between 7 and 9 AM and will indeed not be a full two hour show. About 15 minutes ago, FUV played Turn the Lights Back On followed by a Billie Holiday song. Don't panic. We'll be busy installing a spell-checker for Sharon's posts. Just kidding. The wonderful people at smoe.org, who are so nice to host this list for us, will be moving their operations over the weekend. So the mail will not be passed between Friday night and either Sunday or Monday, depending on how things go with the move. If you could hold off on posting over the weekend, that would be appreciated. We'll send a message out once we're sure everything is back up and running. To answer my friend who asked me offline if I "really" thought that Ten Year Night was the song of the century, I absolutely love TYN but I would have a very tough time picking out any one song if I had to pick out "the" song of the century. There are lots of best songs as far as I'm concerned and the idea of picking one is a bit strange. However, if Livin' La Vida Loca, the Chipmunk Song and the Theme to Cannonball Run can get votes, I'm votin' for Ten Year Night. In any event, I think the whole thing is really a minor ruse by CDNow to collect names of AOL people so that they can send them coupons to buy music and thus become CDNow customers. On the other hand, I don't mind letting them know that there is fandom beyond Korn and Limp Biskit. So, vote early, vote often (Lucy is from Chicago where I believe that practice originated) and use your coupons wisely....
