But hey, both Lucy and Richard were on Long Island three weeks ago and there was no Harvey Specglobal. So there! ;-)) Of course, now I'm thinking that i should make it to Fez this Tuesday evening and I just may show up...and I just may sing Ten Year Night and call someone a slut. All of which would make Sharon proud. Or embarass her to no end, I'm not sure which. I would like to add that I did hear Lucy sing Julie Miller's Broken Pieces while she was here in Long Island and it brought tears to my eyes as well...almost as much as For Once In Your Life does every time I hear it. In fact, tears well up even when I play it on my guitar (chords courtesy of chordmeister RonG), which is one of the reasons I've never played it at any of the open mics I attend. Broken Pieces is a masterpiece and Lucy certainly does it justice. So maybe I'll be there Tuesday night. Yeah, I know, Whoop Dee Doo! I'd never been to the fez, definitely a good time. I think I may have enjoyed it more than the Bottom Line (gasp!). Maybe it was because our waiter was wearing an "I Killed Laura Palmer" t-shirt early in the evening. Very cool. Lucy looked and sounded great. I think it was definitely worth my little trek down into the city just to hear the Swimming Song. The opening act, Andy Wyatt, was....err.....umm....different. But, next week Peter Mulvey will open for Lucy, so I'll forgive all. hope to see some more folks next week Michele ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Jul 1999 19:14:09 -0400 (EDT) From: witch baby Subject: [lucy-list] last night! lucy at fez-- always good to see some of the listers: sharon, michelle, mike, i-fung (sp?). four-fifty is too much for a beer. lucy's cover of julie miller's "broken things" was to die for. literally that heartbreaking. lucy was gorgeous, and in excellent voice form. even though she SMOKES!!!! the opener was pretty darn bad, although i was somewhat gratified when he sung "ten year night". his cologne smelled like the bowery. and i liked seeing eric anderson, although i didn't appreciate it when he called lucy a slut in that fab deep voice of his. he wore a cute hat and, after the show, shook my hand. such a ladies' man. who's on for the next show? see y'all, Jessica - -------------------------------jns4470@is.nyu.edu----------------------------- "Maybe I make up the epiphanies to keep myself alive." --D.M. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ End of lucy-list-digest V1 #126 ******************************* This has been a posting from the Lucy Kaplansky mail list digest To unsubscribe send mail to Majordomo@smoe.org with "unsubscribe lucy-list-digest" in the body of the message
