This is another installment of the Concerts under the Stars series review. This weekend we had Sally Taylor and Chris Smither. Sally was a wonderful musician and person. (BTW she is James Taylor and Carly Simon's daughter.) She was WONDERFUL! I had a good chance to meet with her before her set. I was sitting on the fence about buying her album and waited for her to play through her set before a made a decision. Well, during the set I was throughly inpressed, so I cut a check for the album and left it with the woman I work next to. After her set, I had her sign it to my fiancee and I. i mentioned that I am to be married in September and she wrote congrats on it as well. She was a real sweetie and amused the people around (including fellow dar-lister Ellen, miss Seapiglet) with jokes. She also revealed that everyone in the Taylor family has a family tattoo. I won't tell you what it looks like, check it out on her web site www.sallytaylor.com The best part of the night was when she refunded my money for the CD (against my wishes). I wanted to pay for it, but she wouldn't have any of it. I finally gave in because to talk to Sally is to know her charm. Well, Chris Smither came on after. He was pretty good. I had never seen him before and I thought he was pretty cool. He's a nice guy and very mellow on and off stage. However, I would say that his show is very low key. He plays a stunning guitar arrangement with a low rumble of a voice while tapping on percussion on a wooden board. However, for me, the show was stolen by Sally and her band. I just cannot say enough about her. Well, Next week: LUCY KAPLANSKY, RICHARD SHINDELL, AND CHRISTINE LAVIN. come at 7 pm, I hope to see more 3CRY and Dar-listers!!!! Shawn M.
