Thought I'd share: "Shawn Colvin's (and most everyrone else's) favorite backup singer returns with another solo effort, and this time the woman with the diamond-studded voice seems ready to take on some of the heavy hitters of the singer-songwriter world. Kaplansky cowrote nine of the ten songs with her husband, Rick Letvin (including the mesmerizing title cut), and she also delivers a memorable rendition of Steve Earle's "Somewhere Out There". Armed with a bevvy of backup players, including Larry Campbell and Duke Levine, Kaplansky delivers these songs in her own unforgettable way. (Red House) - Steve Givens" ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 04 Jun 1999 08:46:57 -0700 From: michael gaither Subject: [lucy-list] hidden track on "Flesh and Bone"? Hey again, I've been meaning to ask this: I read (on the All Music Guide, if I remember right) that there's a Beatles cover hidden somewhere on "Flesh and Bone". (The All Music Guide said it's *before* track 1.) Does anyone know about this? Would love to hear it, but I can't find it. (I meant to ask her when she appeared in Monterey recently, but I was too excited just getting all our Lucy discs signed, and it completely slipped my mind.) But to hear it, you have to have a player that recognizes track #0 or allows you to input track numbers (rather than just reversing or forwarding with arrow buttons). She played the cover (McCartney's "I've Just Seen A Face") the first time I saw her, but I've got 3 or 4 players around and none of them can locate the track. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 4 Jun 1999 18:57:33 -0400 From: Tina Wheeler Subject: [lucy-list] Re: hidden track on "Flesh and Bone"? I'm adding: This was my first question to the Lucy list in the first week it was born and several helpful people replied. I've found (through the aforementioned helpful advice) that you just have to "rewind" backward through the song, beginning at the start of track one (Scorpion). Some players have separate buttons from the track changing buttons, that fast forward and rewind through the songs. These would be the ones to use. But I later found on my home player, which did not have those separate buttons (so I didn't think I could play it there) that I could just *hold down* the last track << button and instead of backing up a track, it backed up within the song. Just hold it down starting from the beginning of the CD while the counter counts into the negative numbers to about 3:31 or so (maybe more) and when you let go it should play! Good luck (BTW, it's worth it - a beautiful cover of IJSAF!)
