The songs are a gentle mixture of tasteful soft-rock with a rootsy, country tinge and folksy, acoustic material--mostly direct, emotional stuff (simple love songs, the price of ambition, forgiveness) but there's spirit too ("if I'm gonna be alone I'd rather be myself) and her writing continues to improve: One Good Reason neatly works together liquor, Elvis, Jesus and a broken relationship. Well worth investigating. 4 Stars (out of 5). They also reviewed Cry, Cry, Cry in this issue and gave it 4 stars. These are the first reviews that I come across in my limiting reading of music magazines.
