As for the show...LK added some wonderful new covers to her set. She covered Joni Mitchell's "Carey"...which was wonderful. And it was great to hear her pull out her version of Richard Thompson's "When I Get To The Border" again...love that! - -DC ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 May 1999 05:22:09 -0700 (PDT) From: Pam Subject: [lucy-list] Please help Hi, I stupidly erased the introductory message which told me how to switch to digest and now I'm stuck with getting all the messages separately. Can someone please e-mail me privately and tell me how to get the list in digest form ? Thanx, Pam _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Seems like Richard Marx released an album a year later, in 1997, with the exact title. Wonder how that happened? Coincidently, neither album has a song called Flesh & Bone. Someone mentioned that there is a hidden track on one of Lucy's CD's. Where is it and how do I find it? The "-sky" part of Kaplansky is a Polish/Ashkenazic suffix meaning "from" (similar to the French/Spanish "de" or German "von"). Some names use "-ski," others use "-sky," some use both interchangeably. As far as I know, Lucy's family has always used the "y" form since emigrating from Poland to Canada during the First World War. But when reviewers and program editors hear the name spoken, they tend to make a guess, and "Kaplanski" sometimes did (and does) appear. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 May 1999 20:10:18 EDT From: Rongrittz@aol.com Subject: Re: [lucy-list] Re: Kaplansk[yi] << The "-sky" part of Kaplansky is a Polish/Ashkenazic suffix meaning "from (similar to the French/Spanish "de" or German "von"). Why, I don't know, but whether she's pulling our > legs or not, I'll take the word from the horse's mouth. If so, it started and ended with her. (I used her dad's FIELDS AND RINGS in college complete with the "y.") To this day you can pull up playlists and concert announcements that spell it "Kaplanski" - and then sometimes "Kaplansky" in the *same item*. For a lot of people it's quasi interchangeable, or they don't really think about it. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 May 1999 21:36:42 EDT From: CrZ4Indigo@aol.com Subject: [lucy-list] Why, why, why.... Man, it seems like I live in such a hickville place. Lucy isn't scheduled to be anywhere NEAR here within the next year! I am so mad! I wish I was more... centrally located... at least in Boston or something! But no. I have to live in Amherst, NH where nothing ever happens except the flower show on the village green! Cry3 went to Peterborough in March and well, that's the closest anyone famous has been! I feel so left out! I wanted to go to Falcon Ridge but my parents won't let me! ARGH! Whoa. Totally sorry about bitching to all of you. Shutting up now. ~Alyssa ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 May 1999 22:37:40 -0400 From: "Steve Garrison" Subject: Re: [lucy-list] Flseh & Bone It's a pretty cool version of the Beatle's "Falling" (not as great as the version I saw her do live/solo a few years ago, though).
