Chris, you should be hoping they don't do solo shows. Lucy and Richard together live are just past amazing! But, then what would they call themselves? Lucy and Ricky? Chris' reply: Sue, I couldn't agree more. Cry Cry Cry played Lawrence in November and no matter what combination of voices they offered up, it was awe-inspiring. But still, I would love to hear 'em in a solo act just to get to hear more of each individuals artist's repertoire. I have yet to hear Lucy sing Scorpion or Guinevere live. I've seen Richard as an opener, but would love to hear full sets (replete with Howling at the Trouble and The Courier, etc.!). ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 May 1999 13:40:03 -0400 From: "Pat Grismore" Subject: [lucy-list] Lucy and Jen in Indy Hi All, A tremendous show was witnessed last night by about 100 people, with Lucy OPENING for Jennifer Kimball. They did LOT of singing together, and I have to say, I had chills running down my neck every time they did. When Lucy sang "Promise Me", Jen was doing the low-end "Gorka" part and would then slide way up into the high-end Jen part, it was like shock therapy! There were many moments like this throughout the night, including when Lucy joined Jen for (among others) " It's a Long Way Home" and "Gagna's Song". Their intertwining voices were just incredible. They made it very obvious that they were enjoying it as much as we were. It was great to meet some Lucy-Listers too. Richard and Jan from Champaign-Urbana, Bill, Kelly and the rest of the Chicago contingent, and Doug a fellow Cincinnatian. We'll have to do it again. Anyone coming to the Cincinnati area should check out the following page for music events: http://w3.one.net/~newport Take Care, Pat Grismore ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 May 1999 14:22:23 -0400 (EDT) From: stephenu@webtv.net (Stephen Underwood) Subject: Re: [lucy-list] Lucy and Jen in Indy Hey Pat, Lucky you !!! getting to see Lucy and Jen together .Both incredible writers and without a doubt two of the best harmony singers around.I was checking out the music events page you sent and I saw where Lynn Miles is at the Southgate House on May 13th.I saw her open for Patty Griffin a week and a half ago and she was awesome. Her material is folk and pop with a bit of country on occasion. She has a beautiful voice and plays guitar quite well.If you get the chance go and see her you won't be disappointed. "Slightly Haunted" became one with my CD player for quite some time. Was Ian LeFevre with her when you saw her? He's an amazing guitar player. There's nothing organic about his sound (electric), I watched him set-up his rig one night. He must have 2-dozen effects pedals in front of him, but he is very tasty, fits the songs well, and is never overbearing. A guitar GOD in the making. I really missed him on the new album. Speaking of guitar God's (scraping for some Lucy content). The only thing that could have added to that show last night, would have been the presence of my personal guitar God, Duke Levine. He would have contributed to both artists nicely.
